A Month in the Life of George W Bush (news and photos): January 2009
www.whitehouse.gov/news www.yahoo.com/news | 22nd January 2009 | Snugs

Posted on 01/22/2009 4:58:15 PM PST by snugs

We have discussed both on the dose and privately via freepmail as to what we may do in the future of the dose.

It is suggested that a thread is posted where anyone can post photos or news of George W Bush and if you so wish any other member of his administration as to what they are doing or hope to do in the future and the idea is that this thread will cover January 2009 news and photos as well as being a recap of the last few days of the George W Bush Presidency plus events that took place a few hours afterwards in Texas and for the Vice President in Wyoming.

Enjoy the ongoing Sanity Island for January 2009

It’s my husband who loves to buy them and then I take pity on them and water and feed them. Sometimes they bloom again.

MUST READ THANK YOUs FOR PRESIDENT BUSH . . .

A FORMER LIBERAL SAYS GOODBYE TO GEORGE W BUSH
I’ll miss the man I once thought of as a stupid stooge who was undeserving of power.
February 2, 2009 - by Eli Bernstein

. . . The Berlin Wall has fallen once again while your news reporters were looking the other way, counting body bags in Iraq and actively embroiling themselves in partisan politics.

And so I bid farewell to the man who sacrificed his legacy to protect America’s greatest asset, freedom and democracy. Ironically, he had become the defender of the asset I had once accused him of robbing.

[This is a poignant, beautifully written commentary.]

THE BUSH LEGACY: ‘W’ DID HIS SACRED DUTY, PROVIDED A PERFECT EXAMPLE AND WAS TRUE TO ALL
John W. Buckner, MD • February 3, 2009

The end of George Bush’s presidency is upon us and I think a good time to reflect on the goodness of this man and the precious care he has taken of our country.

. . . I love this commander in chief and am proud to have served under him. I feel America is in a better place as a result of the kind of president he was. I will give my full support to our new commander in chief, Barack Obama, but will never forget the man who stood up when America needed it. Please don’t let the war, the economy or your political affiliation affect your appreciation of this great man who was the 43rd president of the United States of America. “W” was true to his family, his country and his God. A job well done, by one of the most faithful servants that this country may ever see. God Bless you, Mr. President.

[Another commentary that left me teary eyed!]

POLLING UPDATE . . .

OBAMA’S JA RATING IS ALREADY HEADING DOWN!

KEY ‘TAKE AWAYS’ FROM RECENT POLLS:

1.) Obama is now experiencing his highest (media-generated) job approval ratings — he has no where to go but down and down he is going! [Comparatively, after 911, President Bush maintained JA ratings above 70% for over TWO YEARS]

2.) According to the recent USATODAY/Gallup poll, Obama’s DISAPPROVAL rating has DOUBLED in a mere two weeks from 12% disapproval to 25% disapprove — the actual percentage would be higher if Gallup used a REPRESENTATIVE polling sample; however, like the rest of the MSM pollsters, Gallup is currently oversampling Democrats/Democrat-leaning Independents by double digits.

3.) Yesterday, RASMUSSEN put Obama’s JA ratings at 60% approve and 38% disapprove — this rating includes the LOWEST strongly approve and HIGHEST strongly disapprove ratings that Obama has received to date!
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_approval_index

4.) Interestingly, DEMOCRACY CORP (a Democrat polling group) puts Obama’s JA rating at a mere 55% among likely voters (the only group that counts). Yep, even with 95% POSITIVE press coverage, Obama manages a mere 55% JA rating during the honeymoon phase of his presidency!!

I JUST RECEIVED THIS EMAIL FROM THE DIRECTOR OF A POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT AT A MAJOR UNIVERSITY IN OHIO:

WHAT A DIFFERENCE EIGHT YEARS MAKES

January 20, 2009:

Outgoing President George W. Bush quietly boards his helicopter and leaves for Texas, commenting only: “Today is not about me. Today is a historical day f or our nation and people.”

January 20, 2001:

Outgoing President Bill Clinton schedules two separate radio addresses to the nation, and organizes a public farewell speech/ rally in downtown Washington D.C. scheduled to directly conflict with incoming President Bush’s inauguration ceremony.
-

January 20, 2009:

President Bush leaves office without issuing a single Presidential pardon, only granting a commutation of sentence to two former border patrol agents convicted of shooting a convicted drug smuggler. He does not grant any type of clemency to Scooter Libby or any other former political aide, ally, or business partner.

January 20, 2001:

President Clinton issues 140 pardons and several commutations of sentence on his final day in office. Included in these are: billionaire financier, convicted tax evader, and leading Democratic campaign contributor Marc Rich; Whitwater scandal figure Susan McDougal; Congressional Post Office Scandal figure and former Democratic Congressman Dan Rostenkowski; convicted of bank fraud, sexual assault and a child porn perpetrator and former Democratic Congressman Melvin Reynolds; and convicted drug felon Roger Clinton, the President’s half-brother.
-

January 20, 2009:

The Bush daughters leave gift baskets in the White House bedrooms for the Obama daughters, containing flowers, candy, stuffed animals, DVD’s and CD’s, and heartfelt notes of encouragement and advice for the young girls on how to prepare for their new lives in the White House.

January 20, 2001: :

Clinton and Gore staffers rip computer wires and electrical outlets from the White House walls, stuff piles of notebook papers into the White House toilets, systematically remove the letter “W” from every computer key-pad in the entire White House, and damage several thousand dollars worth of furniture in the White House master bedroom.

Headlines 4 Years Ago:

“Republicans spending $42 million on inauguration while troops Die in unarmored Humvees”
“Bush extravagance exceeds any reason during tough economic times”
“Fat cats get their $42 million inauguration party, Ordinary Americans get the shaft”

Headlines Today:

“Historic Obama Inauguration will cost only $170 million”
“Obama Spends $170 million on inauguration; America Needs A Big Party”

Thank you, DrDeb. I have so missed seeing pictures and news of President Bush. It does not seem real that he isn't there.

The video is great. I don't think I've seen any of those pictures, and the narration is loving and shows the respect for the president.

Dr. Buckner's messages did make me teary eyed and nostalgic.

OUR PRESIDENT WAS BUSY TODAY:

Early this morning, he visited a Lions Club Meeting in Crawford (photo included — which I hope someone will post):

Later in the morning, he visited his new home and office in Dallas:

The following commentary is the most recent article posted at the on-line Bush-Cheney Alumni Association:

PRESIDENT BUSH’S LASTING LEGACY: MISSILE DEFENSE
By Jon Kyl | RealClearPolitics.com | February 3, 2009

When the history of the Bush administration’s national security achievements is written, one of the most significant accomplishments will be the building of a national missile defense system.

Thanks for the ping, Deb :)

Would it have killed that news site to post a full size photo of President & Mrs. Bush? This one is squashed.

Thanks DrDeb. I was just saying to hubby that I sure miss our W and how nice it would be to accidentally run into him while out. (we're in the wrong State, so I know that won't happen, but...) I sure wish I would run into him and could face-to-face say thanks and tell him how much I missed him and Mr. Cheney being at the helm.

This is so surreal having B. Hussein O in W's house!
