Attn FReepers: The Free Republic Inaugural Ball has been cancelled.
Free Republic | Inaugural Eve, in the year of the Grate ObaMassiah 2009 | Jim Robinson

Sadly, the 3rd Quad-Annual Quadrennial Free Republic Inaugural Ball in DC has been cancelled due to lack of interest. There will be no refunds (seeing as how no tickets were sold - and none offered).

However, now is the time to begin planning a conservative offensive movement.

How many of you would like to attend a two day conference symposium, er "FReepmeet" regarding taking back our country? It's been suggested that if we do this, it should be held in a central location or airline hub like Denver or Dallas so a maximum number of FReepers can attend.

If not us, who? If not now, when?

Please post your ideas to the thread.

That is all.

Oh man, could I go for Cincinnatti. It’s only three hours from me.

I just checked on Expedia. We can get non-stop flights out of Fresno to Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, St Louis, New Orleans, Chicago, or Atlanta. Cincinnati is 1 stop. Anchorage is 1 stop and a bit more expensive. Most of these flights are in the $300 to $400 range for round trip tickets. Of course, from Fresno, Phoenix and Las Vegas are much cheaper. I was checking flights departing about 45 days out from now.

Maybe someone can check flights out of other areas of the country, but I figure if we can get there non-stop from a sticksville airport like Fresno, then there’s probably a good chance that most FReepers can do the same from their areas.

Any of the cities mentioned so far on the thread are good for me. Even DC at 1 stop for $424.

Somebody already said it doesn’t matter, they have our names already. Okay, as long as you are prepared to serve in come capacity. Maybe you would be a good infiltrator (spy).

I would go to any meetings of insurgents...as long as it is to plan counter-propaganda, infiltration, and organizing the same in all states.

Jim consider a relatively safe place in a predominately supportive area, and I’m not trying to plug for Wasilla my town. Texas too me sounds good.

Some Freepers I think are concerned about worse/bad case scenarios.

Regarding a strategy, anyone read this yet?

"The GOP's fall from the triumphant elections of 2004 to the consecutive defeats in 2006 and 2008 didn't have to happen, and doesn't have to be prolonged. But change in crucial aspects of the party's message and messaging must occur quickly if the potential pick-ups of 2010 are to be achieved, and the White House reclaimed in 2012. As soon as the dust settled in 2008, Hugh Hewitt began an intensive series of interviews with key GOP leaders and political analysts and tacticians across the ideological spectrum. The blueprint for Republican renewal presented here reflects the best of that thinking."

I have not. Of course, Republican renewal doesn't equal conservative renewal, which doesn't equal spiritual renewal.

Actually, I understood your reasoning completely. And what you say is true. The hotels won’t like it if you don’t play, but as far as travel and room rates goes, it’s actually not a bad deal. And for cash strapped FReepers in these dismal economic times, might make sense.

We should hold regional meetings so we can maximize attendance and ideas.
- If we hold meetings on the same day across the country, we could set up a video network to enable communication among the meetings.

- We would need FReepers to volunteer to serve as regional meeting facilitators, secretaries to take/publish meeting minutes, summaries, etc. I volunteer to help in Dallas/Fort Worth.

If we have only one meeting at a central location, I vote for Dallas as can't make it to Denver or anywhere else more than a 4-5 hour drive from DFW.

I was checking flights departing about 45 days out from now.

I'll be strongly discouraged from travel by then, but if there's an Indignent FReepers Airfare Fund, I'll kick in a bit.

I live in SC. Kansas City is pretty centrally located.

Do it after the weather warms a bit and I’m there!

Okay folks, Jim is going to need some extra cash this quarter. Let’s pony up at the Freepathon. I’m a monthly donor, but I also donate to every Freepathon. If every member of FR would send in $10 a month, there would be no need for fund raiders. You pay for newspaper and magazine subscriptions don’t you? Where else are you going to get the kind of reporting you get on FR? It’s a matter of priorities. I would be ashamed to take advantage of the services of FR and not pay for them. So okay, I’m trying to make you feel guilty. You should feel guilty. Pony up.
