Fortunately I have the luxury of not having to vote according to soviet style partisan ignorance. Yes I voted for the democrat to represent me in my state legislature and I’ll continue to do so as long as he is the more conservative candidate.

I think calling Gov. Goodhair a "republican" is a bit of a stretch, as the only reason he now has an "R" by his name is because he knows you can't get elected to state-wide office in this state as a democrat.

I've always thought that to be true. I don't like him...but imagine how much worse it cculd be if one of the Dems had been elected. I think Perry is the typical old TX conservative Dem and his thinking didn't change when he changed the letter after his name.

I'm going to be torn between Perry and Hutcheson in the primary for gov because I don't like either of them. She has become more liberal with time.

What happens to these people????????

I’m not saying hold your nose. I’m saying find an alternative. I can’t believe that we’re forced to choose between Rinos, Dems, and nothing.

I am thinking of re-registering as a democrat so I am considered a constituent worth paying attention to
then voting for the most conservative candidate regardless of party. I think the future of conservatism lies in converting democrats, not changing the republican party to appeal to the ambiguous values of liberals

We are thinking along the same linews. I am becomeing more libertarian by the day and want to start a book group using Richard Maybury’s Economics books.

I am done with two sides of the same coin.

Conservatives have done everything we can think of to kickstart the republican party back to life, but they continue to push us to the side, foolishly believing that the path to power lies with ‘moderates’ and with ‘reaching out’ to the other side.

Well, we’ve seen what that’s led to - two Bush RINOS, two Clinton terms, a President Obama, a dimocratic congress and a virtual lock by the dimocrats on all levels of federal and state government. That’s some successful strategy you’ve got there, republicans!

I’ve already decided that the RNC will not get one more dime from me until they get back to the true core of the party and stop their disasterous flirtation with liberalism.

The problem is, we have no other effective institution to represent us, one that would give us a realistic shot at the state houses and the White House. So, we’re stuck.

While I’m not leaving the party, I certainly won’t enable it on its current path by supporting it financially.

I also dumped the RNC back around Super Tuesday and haven’t looked back since. It has been liberating to not be held any longer in the Republican cage. Recently, Bush said, in an interview, something along these lines: “I abandoned free-market principles to save the economy.” My first thought was, “Bush is an absolute buffoon, that’s a completely ignorant statement on so many levels”. My second thought was, “I’m glad I’m no longer associated with these buffoons”.

I’d rather fight than switch parties. I have not contributed to the national party recently...sticking with local, state.

Same here, lonestar.

In my state you won’t get to vote in the primaries as there are seldom independent candidates running. We don’t allow across party lines voting, and that should be the law of the land.

I've always thought that to be true. I don't like him...but imagine how much worse it cculd be if one of the Dems had been elected. I think Perry is the typical old TX conservative Dem and his thinking didn't change when he changed the letter after his name.

The deal is that Dems can't currently be elected to statewide office in Texas. If that weren't true, Perry would have run as a Dem.

Therein lies the problem of a party that doesn't really stand for anything. Essentially all Perry is, is a Dem with an 'R' beside his name., so it didn't matter who you voted for, you still got a stinking democrat, and the media pushes the fantasy that he's not what he is.

What happens to these people????????

They become a part of the beast. The beast lives apart from us, and doesn't have to live under the laws they pass, or the consequences of their actions. Even when we vote them out, their cronies give them cushy jobs in the bureaucracy, so they never really have to work with the unwashed masses again. Look at what the people that are going to be involved in Zero's administration have been doing for the past several years. They are all working for some "non-profit", think-tank,  government agency, or lobbying firm.

Watch what happens to the Bush people as they leave the administration.

We're being played.

I ordered a Decline To State ballot and was told I had to vote Democrat.

Perhaps that is only on the mail-in ballots.

This was my first vote so I’m not an authority.

It may well be my last vote.

I agree with his sentiments and reality.

John McCain was ... the RNP putting out a weak candidate (whose time had past); and who had found a place in the Senate he liked. His Campaign finance bill did more harm than benefit. He is a moderate/middle man that barters his vote to the highest bidder figuratively. He was almost a faux candidate. Bound to loss (on purpose). Republicans seem to like being the lessor party. That way they can be ineffective with an excuse.

Very disappointing. If he had given Sarah her head when he chose her, she might have won it for them.

All the middle of the roaders in both parties are namby pamby men/women that want to make no waves, do no good, and in general not call attention to themselves. All the while living like kings.

Very disappointing. Like Rush says ... “We are so screwed.”

Today I am cynical. Rightly so.
