I don’t think even a litteral reading of the Bible says it is 6,000 years old, but that is just me.

Easy. When the omnipotent God said, “Let there be light!” There was light EVERYWHERE. THEN God separated the light from the dark.

The 6000 years came from Bishop Usher’s determination of the Earth’s existance from the Bible geneologies
some also use the geneologies to say 10,000 years or so

A)
1 ) If God creates a tree, how old is the tree? It may look 100 years old, but it’s only ten seconds old.
2 ) If God creates a man, how old is the man? He may look 20 years old, but he’s only ten seconds old.
(IOW, if God creates a completed unit, that unit doesn’t need any time to develop, it’s created as a whole.)
Ditto for a Universe.
B) Time is a variable. See Einstein on Relativity.

And then God said, “No, I said a BUD Light!”

How can distant starlight reach us in just 6,000 years? Harry Potter cast a spell on Muggles to make it appear that way.

Or it is due to gravitational time dilation (as per Einstein) and the space-time-velocity conditions (as per Carmeli) associated with God’s creation of the universe.

I say it is indeterminal, even if taken literally. But then I think trying to take everything in the Bible as literal is kind of silly.
