George W. Bush, Winner
American Spectator ^ | 1-14-09 | Lisa Fabrizio

Posted on 01/14/2009 2:16:25 PM PST by STARWISE

Friends, Americans, conservatives; lend me your ears. I come to praise George W. Bush, not to bury him; I'll leave that to our famously unbiased media.

*snip*

We can also be pretty certain that his departure will not feature the ransacking of the Oval Office and Air Force One, or the sophomoric removal of the "O's" from White House keyboards.

If, as has been the case for his entire presidency, he is true to his word, he will be as magnanimous to his successor as he was to his predecessor; notwithstanding the disrespect he received at the hands of both.

When our #1 son was in Law School, he was home for vacation and actually thanked us for not pushing him so hard when he was in high school.

It's a tricky thing to let our kids grow into being their own men and women without suffocating them.

I watched the President's Farewell address. Such class, I do not think we will see for a time. It's going to be a free-for-all in folks thinking it's "their" time to be the "star".

I reviewed my own computer files, loaded with wonderful pictures, poignant to me in significance to various events, of President Bush.

And next I caught up on this thread.

Thank you for the ping to Dennis Miller's, and to all who have contributed to this thread.

When President Bush gave his 2001 inaugural address, and he was speaking about Angels and Whirlwinds, he was speaking about each of us, as was the same at onset and original cite. I am reminded of that wonderful scene in the film "Field of Dreams", where the Kevin Costner character is saying -- "it was you who made all this so!".

And James Earl Jones character responds: "No. It was you, Ray."

No, it was you, President Bush. It was you. :)

So true, and sadly, many career bureaucrats in the State Dept. felt the same way.

Bureaucrats like that are throughout the federal government, not only at State. The federal government is our largest employer by far, and I'd wager at least 60% of career feds are Dems.

President George W Bush is the Freedom President. Once again the Republican Party drags the Liberals kicking and screaming like spoiled brats, blindly into the 21st century. George Bush is a visionary that sees the World as it can be, not as it is. He is the eternal optimist as well an eternal soldier. Never before have we had a leader who can visualize the power of people’s hunger for Freedom in the oppressed spirit, smoldering like a glowing ember in a wheatfield. Whether it is in a village in Afghanistan, a town in Iraq or facing a tank in Tiananmen Square the human spirit longs to feel the warm embrace of Lady Liberty.
W has blown the cool breath of Freedom onto the embers of Democracy on the Iraqi People who are in their infancy of self rule. Just as a toddler begins crawling and then reaching up to learn to walk before becoming an adult, we are witnessing that child nation take his first step. As our infant begins to walk in a room full of dangers, we can take pride in every step of that journey. There has been falls, cuts, bumps and bruises to get to the first step and there will be pitfalls along the way, but we and especially our Troops, should take great relief in the Freedom and hope for Iraq.

The fire is beginning to spread as the hope and hunger of the human spirit is being ignited. The oppression of the Middle East was not as severe or overt as was seen in Communist Russia or China with the physical presence of The Wall, since Saddamn’s wall was mental. They could come and go as they pleased if they had enough money or were connected, but their oppressors could snatch them off the street to be raped or tortured at any given moment. Now they are free to speak or write as they please and vote for their leaders. These flames are warming hearts and minds while pushing back the deep black darkness.

Over the next couple of years we will see a Government formed and a Leader chosen to lead the Iraqi people out of their darkness. We will see them taking ownership of their Country and their own personal Freedom. As they begin to understand that the oppression is behind them they will be taking their torches to the darkest corners of their Country. These flames will expose the terrorists from their hiding places and bring them to justice. The Wildfire will engulf the terrorist hidden in the brush to expose him as a hindrance to Freedom Worldwide. The average Iraqi as we saw on January 30th does not want to see his child blown up, rather has a heart that hopes for a new sunrise.

We are seeing sparks spreading across the tinderbox of Persia. Of all people, the PLO and Hezbola have seen the light as well as the peoples of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon. While these fires begin to burn bright in Bagdad we will see the sparks ignite into flames in these Countries as well as Iran and move around the World to the slave fields of China, Cuba and Korea. Once people understand that Freedom can happen in Countries like Russia, Afghanistan and Iraq, they will realize that Dictators are actually Sand Castles standing against an Ocean. They cannot quench the thirst for Freedom with threats or terror any longer.

President Bush has become one of the Great Visionaries of history. Just as the invisible hand of Capitalism is the most efficient form of economics, so too is the invisible hand of Freedom and Democracy. This hand will expose and capture the Terrorists around the World great and small. People will throw off their shackles of fear and follow the model of Afghanistan and Iraq to fan the white hot flames of Liberty. As America and her friends fuel these flames, millions will be freed from their oppression and take back ownership of their lands. As this Wildfire spreads throughout the World, despots cower in fear as they wait for their ultimate demise at the hands of God’s servant leader, the Freedom President George W Bush.

Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighting Troops

With sweet Spotty (who probably spied a reporter and snarled ;)

At the Pentagon, after 9/11

In my lifetime, I've never witnessed a President who would repeatedly turn the other cheek and restrain his darker angels and maintain good will, amidst the most constant, despicable and humiliating personal attacks and low blows from his opponents AND his own side ... without resorting to nastiness or spiteful responses .. because preserving the honor and dignity of the Office means so much more to him than personal retribution.

He is truly the epitome of faithful Christian. He walks with goodness and nobility in his heart and a desire to be pleasing to God in his soul (and I know he is). If anyone wants to see an example of good parenting and upbringing, they only need to look at George and Laura Bush. Clearly, their parents raised them right, and they have passed along that parental legacy to their daughters.

The man has been mocked and demeaned all over the world, and yet never fails to be gracious and respectful, even to sloughing off with his typical humor, the vile ignominy of a shoe publicly thrown at him (a particularly grievous insult in Iraq).

In my lifetime, I will not again see a President who has such a heart for others, most especially our incredible military and their families, yet is so fiercely steely and intractably resolute in upholding his solemn duty to protect America and our troops and hunt down our evil enemies relentlessly, 24/7.

Wolfie ~~ Thank YOU so much for all the great memories and pictorial delights.

I'll never forget so many, many moments of these last years, not the least of which is the video of his actions in the fracas in Chile with the SS Agent, Nick

Calm, decisive, cool .. get-r-done George W. Bush. Imagine .. such machismo in South America! Yes, he stands uniquely brave in protecting his own.

And just as notable are his perpetual good humor, hugs, optimism, tender heart, deep love and great affection for his wife and family, and his rascally comic side. Sure, he wasn't an elocutionary marvel, but his actions always speak louder than his choice (or mischoice) of mere words, and no .. we won't see his likes again.

I do believe that the main reason he ends his time in office in such good mental and emotional health and spirits is the abiding love and devotion of Laura. She's been his anchor, his comforter, his darling love and true partner. Though he's visibily aged, without her and her support, I don't see how it would've been possible to survive the huge challenges and stresses that he has so well. They surely would've crippled a much weaker man.

With God's mercy, she, along with his loyal circle of family, friends and colleagues have helped keep him calm and anchored and his life in balance, thank God.

My last wish for him in office is that, on or before January 20th, he gets the news and makes the personal announcement that the repulsive coward, Osama, has been destroyed or captured. I have no doubt he will be, but how great would that closure be?

We've been incredibly ... almost miraculously blessed .. that he's been our President in these times. I thank God for he and Laura in our White House. They represented this country with grace, compassion and honor, and made us exceedingly proud.

As he goes happily back home to Texas, he can have full peace of mind and with his head held high, knowing he honored and kept his solemn oath, and the decisions he made were made for the sake of his country, not for any personal or selfish interests. In that, he does stand uniquely alone in recent Presidential history.

No, we'll not see their likes again in my lifetime. I'll hold onto the golden memories of this uniquely wonderful couple and be so very grateful that I was blessed to witness these two incredible patriots and good people, with great decency and class in our White House. Thank you dearly, God.

I am listening to some of his speech on Greta right now. I was gone for the original.

God love him! We all do!

He loves us, loves his country and loves “his” troops.

The picture you posted of the President “rescuing” his man in Chile reminded me of this ONE incident that convinced me that he would catch our back. He was alert to his agents and willing to put himself into the fray to pull his man out. What a good and decent man.

Yes, he respected the Office, and didn't fight back, when he could have, and many said he should have. I think he believes the Office of the Presidency should be above petty politics, and that makes him exceedingly rare in our modern society.

Wolfie, the Quotes and Pics you have Posted have Brought Tears; HOW can the People of our Nation have Turned from this Good Man? It's just Unfathomable, except that they are Programmed Drones and Robots of the Lamestream Media, Soaking Up the Lies the Media has been Spewing Out for 8 Years. The Media has No Conscience at All, Doing what they have Done.
