WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama is officially the next president of the United States, Congress declared Thursday in fulfilling its centuries-old constitutional duty to certify and tally the electoral college vote from each state. Republicans joined Democrats in a standing ovation as Vice President Dick Cheney, in his role as speaker of the Senate, announced from the podium that Obama had achieved a majority of votes and would be the 44th president on Jan. 20.

Agreed. Biden is a jerk but he was born in the United States. I would guess someone in Biden’s family did something good for the country at some time.
The Bush clan are open-border CFR RINOs but Poppy at least served in the USN and GW was the Nat Guard which is something.
The cowardice of the GOP in the House and Senate is sickening. No one said a peep about the illegal alien elect.

I will dutifully uphold my constitutional obligation as a citizen to protect the Constitution As citizens of the United States of America, we all have the obligation to uphold our Constitution.

I think another Conservative at the top of the ticket might have brought in the folks who were so disgusted with McCain's immigration stance and McCain-Feingold that they voted third party.
Even Sarah Palin could not overcome McCain's background for some. After all, she would have been vice president, and a heartbeat away is light years so long as the heart beats.
Sarah Palin's 'handlers' (campaign aides/advisors) should have coached her on dealing with media (interview trickery/editing technique), foreign policy questions, and the gamut of other issues.
I do not see their failure as hers.

I hope a Freeper who really knows the Constitution will let us know if Cheney had the right to raise a question on qualifications. I think he would only have a say had it been a tie vote. That's his only real power in the Senate.

I think somebody said that Biden wouldn’t get it, because he would have been in on the lie.
It would probably, unfortunately go to McMaverick.

You have it correct: Congress is a den of vipers.
I will be wearing the black clothes of mourning for the next four years.

What happened to Congressman John Linder of Georgia who was suppose to stand up on the floor and object to Obama being certified today? Read the FR thread below where he says he will do it.
