WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama is officially the next president of the United States, Congress declared Thursday in fulfilling its centuries-old constitutional duty to certify and tally the electoral college vote from each state. Republicans joined Democrats in a standing ovation as Vice President Dick Cheney, in his role as speaker of the Senate, announced from the podium that Obama had achieved a majority of votes and would be the 44th president on Jan. 20.

No objections this time by anyone because Obama has failed to prove he is qualified?

Not a one. 535 ashhats and not one with the cojones to even state something like "allegations have been made...we would like the Official BC from Hawaii to set those allegations to rest". Not one.

Well Ben, we couldn't keep it. Had a pretty good run though.

He was indeed, but then Barack Hussein Obama was not a citizen of the United States at the Time of the Adoption of the Constitution.

Heaven help us if the "natural born" challenge is heard and wins. How would President Biden grab you? How about President Pelosi if Joe chooses / is forced to choose her for Veep?

Better than a usurper in the Oval Office. At least the Constitution would have been observed.

I, as a Natural Born Citizen, hereby declare that I refuse to recognize Barry Soetoro, AKA Obama, born a British citizen, and now an Indonesian citizen since age 4, as my President.

I will dutifully uphold my constitutional obligation as a citizen to protect the Constitution by ignoring any and all laws that Soetoro the Indonesian may sign into law or attempt to enforce. I do this as an act of respect for the Constitution and the rule of law. So, help me GOD.

I really do not think many conservatives "sat this one out". Sarah Palin did more to bring the Conservative base back into the fray than she will ever get credit for. While many would not vote for McCain, we did get out and vote for Palin, or at least against Obama as questions regarding his citizenship came to the fore and his connections with criminal enterprises came to light.

Had Palin had someone more Conservative as the front-runner, she might have done better.

What needs to happen in the next three years is the total discrediting of the MSM in the eyes of average TV watching Americans. Without that, the Right does not stand a prayer.

Now it’s the SCOTUS’s job to deal with this issue.

What a sad day in the history of the United States, because I believe more U.S. Senators challenged and loudly objected to the eligibility of the appointment of Illinois Senator Burris than Senators who challenged and objected to the eligibility of president-elect Obama: Not one Senator objected.

Again, what a sad day in the history of the United States and the United States Constitution as the laws of the United States Constitution are completely ignored today---Jan.8, 2009---because the cowardly U.S. Senate chickens out by NOT challenging the eligibility of the elected President of the United States.

George Washington was born a citizen of the British Empire...

Which is why he, and the other framers put in the Grandfather clause right there next to the natural born citizen clause. Had to be a natural born, UNLESS you were here in America at the time of the adoption of the constitution. That’s because NOBODY was a natural born citizen and over the age of 35 at in 1787. BTW- that’s the reason for the 14 year residency requirement as well. It had been 14 years since the Declaration of Independence. They didn’t even want anybody to be pres at that time, unless they had lived through the entire revolution...

Another thing. All who signed the Declaration of Independence knew that their punishment for treason to the King was to be “hung till near death, then disembowled while still alive and then quartered and have their bodies displayed for all to see.” Ever seen the end of Braveheart? We don’t want to stand up because we worry we might get the IRS sicked on us... Sad.

I doubt it, if she already got the conservative vote out, who else would another conservative at the top have brought out? IMO Sarah's problem was that she was pushed up too fast, she couldn't handle the foreign policy questions, etc (any more than I or most people could) since those areas wouldn't have concerned her as mayor or governor.

I do not know if VP Cheney had the right to raise a question as to qualifications. Think any question had to come from a Representative or Senator. I hope a Freeper who really knows the Constitution will let us know if Cheney had the right to raise a question on qualifications.
