Levi Johnston quits oil field job (Libs cost him his job!)
Anchorage Daily News ^ | January 5, 2009 | WESLEY LOY

Levi Johnston, the boyfriend of Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, has quit his North Slope oil field job over questions about his eligibility to work in an electrical apprenticeship program, Johnston's father said Monday.

Johnston, 18, began working this fall in the Milne Point oil field with ASRC Energy Services Inc., a major Slope contractor.

In a Sunday newspaper column, Anchorage radio talk show host Dan Fagan questioned how Johnston could take part in ASRC's apprenticeship program without a high school diploma.

Fagan said he understood federal regulations require all members of apprenticeship programs to have a diploma. He also questioned whether the governor might have had a hand in getting Johnston into the program.

Palin adamantly denied that Monday.

Johnston's father, Keith Johnston, said the governor had nothing to do with getting Levi the Slope job. Keith Johnston said his own position as an ASRC construction engineer accounts for any help his son received in landing work.

1. In a perfect world, Levi should follow the rules, just as everyone else should. That's not an unreasonable requirement - either get that rule changed or follow that rule.

2. In our actual imperfect world where the liberal jackals in the media are using a scorched earth policy against anyone associated with Governor Palin, it would be prudent for Levi, his mother, Palin's cousin's babysitter, and everyone else who is likely to be targeted to make sure that they are net setting a toe out of line. Anyone within six degrees of separation from the Governor is going to be ripped to shreds on the slimmest of excuses, and today was Levi's turn. Again.

I'm a huge fan of Gov Palin and I hope to have a chance to vote for her in 2012. Of course, this story is not really about her.

I think rules are rules and the kid shouldn't have been in the program. I don't know if his father's influence was improper -- often that stuff is perfectly fine. However, is this was improper string-pulling (nepotism) then it is shameful.

Again, this is not about Gov. Palin at all. It's not about Republicans at all. However, the GOP would be advised to oppose ANY impropriety ANYWHERE. No improper influence, no corruption, no rule breaking. The GOP should have no tolerance for any of it.

The Dempocrats are going to hand us about 9732 instances of corruption and rule breaking. But all of that will be washed away if the media can find 5 instances of Republican malfeasance. Republicans need to be very careful about shrugging at impropriety.

Years ago such jobs did not require high school diplomas.

Unless I missed it, the article doesn't actually say it IS a requirement - just that the op ed writer said he 'understood' that it was. Op ed writers have been known to 'understand' things that aren't true. ;)

And what about Sasha and Malia chewing gum and talking in their elementary school class?

And what about their friend in class whose dad makes millions lobbying for the Gay agenda?

Can’t anyone see where this is going? What isn’t this being covered?

Oh, yes, we shouldn’t acknowledge the left and their tactics...
no, we should stick to our “principles” and follow the rules without complaint and let the left destroy and enslave us because we refuse to speak out about their tactics.

If it is not a requirement then why was the kid fired? I think it stinks.

Yeah your clever comebacks are intimidating well thought out insight into a highly educated mind.

I don't know how I thought following the rules and getting ones degree at the high school level was anything more than a foolish rant.

Of course the fact that the young mans father agrees with me and according to the article is continuing down the path I suggested is meaninless. (snort)

Hmm I read the Bristol and Levi got $300,000 for the baby photos. Not going on welfare soon

Got a link for that?

From what I've read, they could be offered as much as $300,000 for baby photos. There's about a $300,000 difference between the reports that we've read.

When our country started, it was common practice to get your kids into apprentice programs...at about age 14. It was called education...like going to a trade school...EVERYONE did it!!

According to this article, he quit because of pressure from the media.

1) Lib prying and pressure cost this boy his apprenticeship.

Bull. If a high school diploma is required for the position and he doesn't have one then it was his lying and deception that cost him the job.

Lib prying and pressure

It appears to be the result of Dan Fagan's newspaper column on Levi Johnston. After checking out Fagan's bio at his radio station, it also appears that he is a conservative talk show host, not a lib.

This was a non story, Levi's father got him the job which happens every single day in virtually every company in this United States. Rules are bent too, thats just the way it is in life

This jackass Fagan is nothing more than a self serving, self promoting grandstander making news out of no news..........

The prick reminds me of a guy who used to be a gossip columnist for the Detroit News many years ago. The guy's sister was my niece's best friend.

Anyway, he took an almost sadistic delight in digging up personal dirt on local celebrities and prominent business people then publishing it in his column.

Well that all came to a screeching halt one day when it was discovered this his dad, a prominent local judge, was a bigamist who literally had a second wife and family living on the far west side of Detroit........

Shortly thereafter, Matt Beer, now the laughing stock of Detroit, resigned from the newspaper and split for the west coast.........good riddance!

Pricks like Fagan always seem to have skeletons in their own closets and sooner or later what goes around is going to come around.

Their baby photos are all over the last issue of People magazine. I don't think they just gave them away.
