Minn. Board to Certify Al Franken as Apparent Senate Winner

MINNEAPOLIS -- The state Canvassing Board was poised to certify the results of the recount in Minnesota's grueling Senate election in Al Franken's favor -- but that doesn't mean the race is definitely over.

The board was to meet Monday and was expected to declare which candidate received the most overall votes from nearly 3 million ballots cast. The latest numbers showed Franken, a Democrat, with a 225-vote lead over Republican Sen. Norm Coleman.

But after the announcement, there will be a seven-day waiting period before an election certificate is completed. If any lawsuits are filed during that waiting period, certification is conditional until the issue is settled in court.

Coleman, who led Franken on election night, hasn't ruled out a lawsuit challenging the results, claiming there were irregularities that gave Franken an unfair advantage.

The Coleman campaign also has a petition pending before the state Supreme Court to include 650 ballots that it says were improperly rejected but not forwarded by local officials to St. Paul for counting.

Let’s ask Harry Reid if he’ll seat Franken, a white guy, and not Burris?............................

Sure seems like they were counting votes and coming up with Coleman as the winner time after time. Then, they finally found a way to count the votes and have Franken be the winner. Hey! Game Over, man! Stop the counting! We have a winner!!!!!

Minn. Board to Certify Al Franken as Apparent Senate Winner

Gee, what a surprise.

Let's see how long it takes for Senate 'Pubbies to back away from their threat to challenge his credentials.

(I'm guessing it will take them less than 15 seconds)

Minnesotans also elected Jesse Ventura!!

I will never understand why they rejected a class act like Norm Coleman!

The entire Senate loses credibility by accepting this clown. Makes them all seem so..... unimportant.

Jesse was a completely different affair. He talked a good conservative, anti-statist line when he ran and was elected by an outpouring of blue collar types who didn't usually vote. Less than six months into his office, something snapped and he began to believe he'd been elected emperor.

One half of the voters of Minnesota have been disenfranchised. Where is the outrage?

Minnesotans have certainly lost their minds and I am SOOOOO glad their team (Vikings) lost to the Eagles yesterday in the playoffs. People in Minnesota are losers...PERIOD.
