ROGERS, Ark. An Arkansas woman has given birth to her 18th child.
Michelle Duggar delivered the baby girl by Caesarean section Thursday at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. The baby, named Jordyn-Grace Makiya Duggar, weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20 inches long.
"The ultimate Christmas gift from God," said Jim Bob Duggar, the father of the 18 children. "She's just absolutely beautiful, like her mom and her sisters."
The Duggars now have 10 sons and eight daughters.
Jim Bob Duggar said Michelle started having contractions Wednesday night. She needed the C-section, her third, because the baby was transverse. Jim Bob said both baby and mother were doing well Thursday night.
"We both would love to have more," he said.

"Our whole family is excited about Jordyn's addition to our family," Jim Bob Duggar said. "She's just perfect in every way."

I would add that more “individual attention” isn’t necessarily good. If it were, then only children would have the perfect arrangement. I have three “only” child nephews and nieces and they are generally somewhat spoiled and lonely - seems to be generally true of other onlies I have run into, although it obviously isn’t universally the case. In my experience, the larger the homeschooled family the more fun the kids have. The sibling relationships also seem better.
Why anyone except a homosexual would quote Dennis Miller is beyond me. Hmmmm ....
That's the moral equivalan argument. Americans are generally far, far superior to any other culture.
One of these 18 children may be the one who engineers a new way to grow more food. One of the children you should have might have too, but we'll never know, will we?
Take your argument to the third world, where it has some merit.
My grandparents kept a hospital in their house in the 30’s and 40’s, in rural Missouri. It was unfortunately common for twins not to survive. A little smaller and weaker, a week or two earlier delivery ...
I’m so happy I’m having children now!
You are not a conservative. You are a troll. If you think the world is overpopulated then I assume you bought into the whole Gore agenda.
Global population goes up - living standards go up. This has been true since day one, yet think the world is overpopulated.
Of course the liberals hate them. Once you factor in the gays, the guys who are too creepy for anyone to date, the immature, the women who wait until 40 to even start trying, and the ones who consider child care beneath them, do you realize how big a liberal population you have to start with to have any hope of it producing 18 babies?
‘What a BLESSED family!! I LOVE watching them on TV....they are the REAL DEAL of what a Christian family is.’
I agree...!!
Population growth does not increase standard of living. I think you just want to start arguments. Such silliness.
I am so thankful the Duggars WANT all their children. They are to applauded for that.
However, one thing makes me curious. Just how much time in their marriage has Mrs. Duggar NOT been pregnant? That would be an interesting answer.
I don’t know much about the Duggars other than what I’ve seen on their show or specials. I don’t catch it often.
I imagine there’s many “he’s looking at me” or “mom, she’s being mean or he’s in my stuff” type of things. Unless she and the husband are robots, I bet they have their tiffs too. They just don’t show that stuff on their show.
Whenever we (my husband, kids, sibs, etc.) talk about these “reality” shows, we all agree on one thing: there’s no amount of money that would make it worth it for us to have cameras film our lives. It would have to be heavily edited, lol.
Like Groucho Marx was fond of saying: "Hey.....I like my cigar too, but I take it out once in a while!"
Well said.
Large families, I’ve concluded, are great for kids.
By the time #3 rolls around, the parents are pretty good at it (if they follow biblical training principles).
So every child thereafter gets the benefit of good parenting, and the old ones get the benefit of good examples of good parents.
Another aspect of families is that they teach everyone in them about their relationship with the Heavenly Father. Parents and children alike learn from this little micro-model of the father-child relationship.

Personal Quotes
Saying there are too many children is like saying there are too many flowers
Don’t you think they’re a little robotic?
Anyone who says that can try putting his cigar in a man’s rear orifice. Do Bill Clinton one better!
I think kids today get too much individual attention. They grow up in the real world thinking its all about me

Well said. Just when I was getting ready to respond to the “oodles of individual attention” crack, I saw your great answer, Cindy. As a former teacher, I heartily concur with your observation.
From what I have seen, the children in this family get what is far more important. Big families are wonderful for teaching children the importance of doing for others, of contributing to the group. In a large family children gain honest self esteem because they provide valuable contributions to the family’s welfare instead of being treated like pampered poodles.
God Bless them and all of their children!
Just like this family, I let God take control of how many children I could bring into this world. He blessed us with only two. If we were meant to have more we would have had more.
Damn those that say negative things against this family.
