"As far as how he matches up to Bill White...Its going to be a tough road to hoe for MW...With the momentum the dims have going these days..." ------------------ Well, first of all, roads are always tough to hoe; I think you meant "a tough row to hoe." : ) Second, even in 2008, Sen. John Cornyn and John McCain won in TX by 12%, and 2010 almost certainly won't be as good an electoral environment for Democrats as 2006 or 2008 were. In a Williams-White match-up, Michael Williams would be favored. Frankly, I think the GOP primary will be Williams's toughest test.

I remember his speech at the Convention. He has always been one of my favorites.

If I didn’t know better from your post, I would have thought that ZERO won Texas instead of losing by 12% and that Cornyn would have lost or had a close race and he also won by 12%.
How do you come up with Dem momentum in TX? Your post doesn’t track with facts.

Two railroad commissioners will be running, for Elizabeth Ames Jones is also in the race. And the Democrat former Comptroller Sharp is running.

No primaries for this special election. All regardless of party run on the same ballot, and the two top votegetter met. Could it be White and Sharp? Possibly? Tbey can be of the same party in the special election runoff.

I’ll clarify...
I meant overall democrat party momentum around the country...
Texas certainly didn’t go the way of the dodo too much...Sorry if I wasn’t clear on that...
To: AuH2ORepublican
Maybe so...The Republican party leadership has certainly left a lot to be desired in who they hitch their wagon to lately...
Leaving conservative grassroots folks with an uphill battle to have to accept moderates and RINO’s to vote for because once again the alternative was worse...

He's a longtime friend of W's from Midland. He was on Bush 41's presidential primary campaign staff in 1980 and then the Reagan-Bush '80 campaign. - - - - - - - -
Pingin' some Texans and a few others here as well. :)

Well, I’ll support him in whatever he decides, though I think he’d make a much finer Governor. Perry has overstayed his welcome and Kay is just plain wrong.

He spoke at the 2000 convention in Houston, too. I have no problem supporting him.
