NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Snow is falling in the New Orleans area.
The National Weather Service says a mixture of sleet and snow is falling Thursday morning from Baton Rouge east across much of southeastern Louisiana.
The winter weather closed some schools and created hazardous driving conditions.

Heavy, wet snow in Metairie. Everything is white- it’s sticking to everything but the wet sidewalk. Stunningly beautiful-makes even the swamp beautiful.
Ahhhhh, this is magic, a Christmas gift that is also going up to north Alabama where a child I love more than anything will be thrilled to see it. If only I were with her.
The last time it snowed in New Orleans it was CHRISTMAS DAY 2004! Million to one odds on that- of course we got the flip side of those odds with Katrina the following year.
Lets hope this miraculous snowfall portends wonderful things. But for today- it’s magic, like a dream- and I’m taking my little Maltepoo outside to enjoy it in his sweater. He’s named after a snowman, after all...where’s the camera..

I’d like some here.
IMO, it should snow before and around Christmas - then it can go away until next Christmas.

Just a side effect of Cheney disconnecting the Weather Control Machine to move it into hiding in Wyoming before January 20.

Snowing in Houston Texas as well. Here in Watertown N.Y. we were at (minus) -16 degrees Sunday night, and that was NOT the wind chill!

I had snow balls saved in the freezer from that White Christmas South Texas had a few years ago. Last year the freezer went out and they melted. I was more upset about my snow than the meat I lost :’)

I was thinking the same things... FEMA will have to put heaters in the trailers now, and then provide a space heater for every one in New Orleans... all Bushs fault of course.. he did not for see this coming, as he took Gores word for global warming..

Is there a global warming conference in session in New Orleans? Perhaps one is scheduled for next week and will have to be cancelled due to inclement weather.
