The ghetto idiots were not the only ones who voted for obama by a long shot. The Jewish retirement villeges in South Florida went for him by at least a 90% margin and there wrer others too numerous to mention.

I think it’s the Lib’s who will get the object lesson. Conservatives know exactly what is going to happen ....

"..The 1967 and 1973 wars, the bombing of the iraqi reactor - where is that country now?..."

Israel has shown incredible restraint concerning the belligerents in Iran over the last few decades.

Look for an end to that under an Obama regime.

I cannot sat that the notion disturbs me, au contraire.

Yes, I agree. I don’t know though, some of these fools are beyond hope. What, even Carter got something like 35% against Reagan. I don’t think that one was too hard to understand.

Oh well... ;-) take care.

the part where he addressed the question. Not that any other major politician wants to.

“Israel has shown incredible restraint concerning the belligerents in Iran over the last few decades.”

thanks for a conversationally-friendly reply.

It is interesting, isn’t it? I know Iran was long-rumored to have gotten nukes from a former SSR (there may be freepers who know the answer (hypothetical) on this decisively, but they are probably not stupid enough to say so) and that might be a motive for israeli inaction, but at the same time, up until the last decade, the entire iran/iraq detente was not a bad static situation, if NBC weaponry was not being developed.

I had forgotten the syrian reactor event, that was nice.

They did apparently not win the action in lebanon last year, which was surprising. They will have to go back at some point.

“”They are only a co-belligerent in this terror stuff. They are not our friend.”

“Co-belligerent. Talk about leftist-style immoral relativism.”

Co-belligerency pre-dates your fancy words by countless millenia, it is a concept expressed at the instinctive, not fancy-textbook level even in primates. It means ‘we should to kill this third guy off together, but we is quits after.’ I am not sure what moral issues you may have that confuse this.

Have you ever studied the second world war in europe, and the relationship between the USSR and the US and Great Britain? How would you compare and contrast that relationship with the term ‘co-belligerency?’

“”Do freepers understand that nations have no enduring alliances, only enduring interests? Nations sure as heck don’t have friends.”

That is an ideological position. We have been friends with Great Britain for a century. Try again.”

Not try again, smart-person. First, a century is not that long, assuming historical literacy. Second, we share a profoundly deep cultural heritage with GB which even then wasn’t enough to prevent ongoing issues even through the civil war. What we have in common with Israel by comparison is miniscule. Care to elaborate? I hope you understand that great britain is our long-term ally, not our friend.

“Honestly, in terms of actually FIXING problems, Israel used to be tremendously effective. The 1967 and 1973 wars, the bombing of the iraqi reactor - where is that country now?”

Alive, which evidently you would prefer it not to be.”

Generally on FR, one who criticizes Israel is responded to with this suggestion - to question anything the US does in support of israel is to wish for its destruction.

Perhaps you have other loyalties, but I am a natural born citizen of the US, not Israel or wherever you are from or have decided to have loyalty to.

In fact, I would be very happy to see US citizens banned from having dual+ citizenship, and given the choice of either renouncing (verifiably) said foreign allegiance or being given the choice of some unpleasant legal penalization or renouncing their US citizenship in favor of permanent legal residence, without voting rights.

People forget the Liberty and the Pollard case so easily and quickly.

That one boggles the mind. That's the same mentality that surrendered all their firearms to Hitler.

BTW, "ghetto idiots" is for anybody who voted Rat. Sort of a blanket insult.

I misunderstood you. When you wrote "They are only a co-belligerent in this terror stuff." , I thought you were saying taht Israel was working with the terrorists, rather than with us against them.

Strictly speaking, in so far as the US ahs directly aided terrorists attacking Israel, we have been very bad at this.

Our relationship with Great Britain was far closer than just a co-belligerent. We shared nuclear, radar, jet engine technology and intelligence codes with them.

Not try again, smart-person. First, a century is not that long, assuming historical literacy. Second, we share a profoundly deep cultural heritage with GB which even then wasn’t enough to prevent ongoing issues even through the civil war.
Our ongoing issues were related our hard-fought independence from the motherland, and later territorial disputes. It was our shared heritage, which made the enmity greater, especially in 1812.

What we have in common with Israel by comparison is miniscule. Care to elaborate? I hope you understand that great britain is our long-term ally, not our friend.
We share a religious heritage with Israel, one consistantly affirmed by many of the first Zionist president, like John Adams.
Both Israel and the US won independence from Great Britain, but retain considerable legal precedent. 10% of Israelis are American and a majority speak English. There are about 350,000 Israelis living in America, which is to say 1 in 20 Israelis. Many native Israelis have studied in the US, including PM Benjamin Netanyahu.

Read the following article:
The New Israel and the Old
Why Gentile Americans Back the Jewish State
http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20080701faessay87402/walter-russell-mead/the-new-israel-and-the-old.html

I fail to see how Great Britain is not our friend.

Generally on FR, one who criticizes Israel is responded to with this suggestion - to question anything the US does in support of israel is to wish for its destruction
Your position is not neutrality, but enmity.

Perhaps you have other loyalties, but I am a natural born citizen of the US, not Israel or wherever you are from or have decided to have loyalty to.
Talk about trying to end discussion with a silly remark.
I hold no other citizenship but American. Until 18, I held dual Swedish and American citizenships, but renounced Swedish citizenship. I did so because I do not approve of dual citizenship.
In theory, I could have Israeli and Polish citizenship, but I can barely read Hebrew and know maybe a dozen words in Polish. My parents raised me to be an American and I do not like my loyalty being questioned.

Works for me.

People forget the Liberty and the Pollard case so easily and quickly.
Pollard is where he should be and no one is forgetting him. What people do forget is that the US funded, armed and gave intelligence to the Palestinian Authority, which promptly turned these weapons on Israelis in 2000.

I don't forget the USS Liberty. I want the NSA officials prosecuted for ignoring LBJ's promise and putting the ship in a war zone and the CIA to apologize for nixing Israel's request for a Naval liaison. The blood of many American's is on their hands. Israel has apologized and made restitution, the US government has hid its role, fomenting illogical conspiracy theories.
