The U.S. Supreme Court will consider Friday whether to take up a lawsuit challenging President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. citizenship, a continuation of a New Jersey case embraced by some opponents of Obama's election. The meeting of justices will coincide with a vigil by the filer's supporters in Washington on the steps of the nation's highest court.

Sounds like a real stable fella.
Anyone expecting them not to throw out the case is just setting themselves up to be disappointed.
However, I will be very surprised and pleased if they don’t.
I’ll be satisfied if it gets a fair review on the constitutional level.
If liberal judges can ignore or spin with impunity the clear text of the main laws of the US Constitution,bypassing “technicalities” like presidential requirements is kids stuff.
All it takes is a blind hatred of traditional America.
Whatever happens, people will know in the future that eligibility will be examined.
IMO that’s a damn good thing... no matter the outcome of this particular case.

Yes, it is a good thing. But what do we do now? This is our only hope.
I don’t have much faith either regarding the Supremes, but I will tell you one thing, I have never been so angry regarding an election as I have with this one. It just wasn’t right in so many ways.
This man has no business sitting in the oval. He lied and cheated and used various voter fraud methods while the people in charge stood by and did nothing, and now we are supposed to just say oh well and step into line.
Not to mention that this man may not even be eligible to hold the position and we are supposed to just sit there and say nothing realizing we the people are at the mercy of these people?
No NO and NO!!! If this man is allowed to assume the oval office, I will no longer participate in the elections. I will know with absolute certainty that it is all a sham.
By allowing this, we are saying to foreign born persons hell yes run we will not do anything about it because the voters wanted it and the Constitution be damned.
I knew this was coming, but now that I am witnessing the death nell for the Republic that I and you all here at FR love it just breaks my heart.
I am also very very angry with our so called conservative voices, Rush, Laura et al. They are not brave enough to come out and talk about this. THEY ARE COWARDS!!! How dare they sit in judgement of others who keep silent when they do exactly the same.
When they ask us for help with the Fairness Doctrine, you can count me out!!

If eligibility didn’t matter a month ago, what makes you think it will ever matter? The precedent was set on Nov. 4, 2008.
Heck, if he gets away with this, the whole Constitution is meaningless (which is what he thinks it is anyway).
That said, I think he will get away with it. I would be truly stunned if the Supreme Court decided to examine this case.
Obviously, however, Obama is a little worried about it, which is why he is consolidating power so rapidly and trying to stay in the eye of the media (and hence, in the eye of his mob of brain-dead followers, just for insurance purposes). And probably the reason he is appointing so many Clintonistas is because many folks in the upper ranks of the Dem party know that he’s not eligible and just on the off chance that he gets booted, they want their apparatus in place.
That said, I don’t think there’s a chance in the world that the SC is going to examine this. The case involves three people, and they could theoretically find that none of them, including McCain, qualified as natural born. This might be a solution, but I think they won’t dare to touch it.
It won’t go anywhere, no one has the balls to light the fuse.
Interesting that they say those interested in the lawsuit are ‘opponents of Obama’s election’ rather than ‘defenders of the Constitution’.
If hitler and tojo had of known how easy it is to subvert the constitution,,,,,,,,,even the supremes woulda helped them.
And if we weren’t all so busy working trying to keep our own selves out of debt - we could all show up outside the Supreme Court bldg tomorrow in protest.
He’s been elected now. Why on earth won’t he make his real birth certificate available? It’s beyond me that there is no one in his entourage who has explained to him that he is only fanning the flames by refusing!

Given the tight control of information that has characterized O's campaign, I'm not so sure they "know," as much as they suspect, in spite of all the lockstep blather. With the possible exception of Hillary. And what she might know could be something entirely unrelated to the question of citizenship, or "natural born."
I agree with your take on this situation, and given that his supporters are now quoting the opinion of the Circuit Court judge in the (ill-conceived and executed) Berg case, to the effect that the voters decide the qualifications of the President, it's one more nail in the coffin of Constitutional authority.
And I can't help wondering if that's been O's objective all along with this issue.
I have always thought that Rush hurt himself badly by carrying water for GWB long after it was clear that GWB was no friend of conservatives.
The difference I point out King is that before Nov 4, nobody had ever made an issue whatsoever of a pres’ eligibility in this regard.
Now that this is happening [at minimum a full review - albeit a likely denial] future nominees must consider that it could happen to them.
That’s all.
I think it probably is. If this issue is allowed to slide, why not any issue? The Constitution becomes simply a general guideline which may be honored or not, depending on how convenient it is for the people in power.
