Sen. Bill Clinton has an interesting ring to it, doesn’t it?

While no one is certain if this is a creation of the press or an actuality, certainly there are many models for post-presidential life and a return to public office is one of them.

Whether Bill Clinton is being seriously considered, or is seriously considering, a return to office via his wife Hillary's vacated New York U.S. Senate seat is certainly worth exploring.

"John Quincy Adams is the most prominent instance of a return to political office" said Joel Goldstein, an expert on the presidency. "But William Howard Taft was appointed Chief Justice of the United States, George Washington was named Commander in Chief of the army by President Adams, and despite his misgivings, Gerald R. Ford authorized close associates to discuss the possibility of (him) running for vice president on Ronald Reagan's ticket in 1980 -- and seemed close to accepting it."

Here’s New York’s chance to get it’s 3rd Governor. Just put Paterson in the slot. The poor guy deserves it.

Why not?

The NY Senate Seat will be held by the Democrats for the next 100 years anyway.

I am trying to picture Slick Willie as the most junior member of the senate, with the worst office space, and worst committee assignments.

His ego is so massive it would not allow him to be the junior Senator from New York with no seniority.

I doubt his ego could handle it. Then again, Obama won the election, so what the *%^& do I know?

Why would he want to be a senator, when he gets to travel the world making tons of cash giving speeches and being fawned over as some kind of elder statesman?

The strippers at scores and the high priced Manhattan call-girls are very excited about now being including in a government stimulus package.

precisely<p.He could also serve as ambassador at large which is what a democrat president might use him for. Kind of like Carter without all the pomposity and anti-American rhetoric.

I could see David Paterson installing a placeholder for two years, running in 2010, and letting Slick take Albany.

Bubba stays in NY in Governor's Mansion, Hillary in DC...Works for him.

Think plans are being made for Patterson as another Obama lapdog.
