WSFA 12 News first reported a proposed tax for Alabama farmers on livestock gas emissions last week, and we've learned new information.

Since the report the Enviromental Protection Agency asked for comments from the agriculture industry with a deadline of the day after Thanksgiving. The outcry has been heard - loud a clear.

Agriculture & Industries Commissioner Ron Sparks thanked Alabama farmers and consumers for making their voices heard regarding the proposed tax on livestock gas emissions. The proposal announced by the EPA was an advance announcement in anticipation of an actual regulation that would likely be brought up for government approval in 2009.

Sparks' office said many farmers, consumers, and agricultural organizations and state departments were highly critical of the proposal including harsh comments from United States Department of Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer.

Poor little creatures, making cows pay tax on something they have little or no control over should be a crime.

Now, I would be for a Pol tax. I am sure that World Wide politicians should pay a tax on all the hot air they put out not to mention all the natural resources they consume just being politicians.

Hey now that’s the ticket, If we paid pols a commission based on Revenues - Expenses excluding the department of defense budget, and if they spend more than they take in, we tax them just like they want to tax the rich, the more over budget the higher the tax we might see an improvement in alot of things.

An I-read-the-headline-correctly *ping*

Should this stinker of a proposal pass, I smell an explosion of protests on the wind.

Or as my dear father is known to say: “Speak, Toothless!”

Saw the headline in the “popular” sidebar and nearly stuned my beeber.

But I see I'm a bit late to this party.
