The Coleman campaign has just issued the following press release that confirms the nightmare scenarios sketched out by John Fund in his Wall Street Journal column today:
ST. PAUL - Hours after the Franken campaign failed to convince the Minnesota State Canvassing Board to intervene on its behalf, Senate President Harry Reid (D-Nev) supported Franken's attorney's statement that they are prepared to take the Minnesota election to the U.S. Senate for a decision.
Later Wednesday afternoon, Reid opened the door for Senate intervention into the Minnesota election processing, saying: "Today's decision by the Minnesota Canvassing Board not to count certain absentee ballots is cause for great concern." Reid made the statement in a release from his official U.S. Senate office.
"This is a stunning admission by the Franken campaign that they are willing to take this process away from Minnesotans if they fail to win the recount."
Rules are for suckers......
Whatever it takes.
And Republicans will just take it, lying down.
Cowards.
Why is this ‘stunning’, considering Obama’s blatant stealing of the election? It just proves dems think the entire electoral process/system is their private sandbox. The only question is...how do we ever get it away from them?
Franken is a POS.
Sore Loser POS.
“And Republicans will just take it, lying down.”
BOHICA
Yes, the only stunning thing about it all is how blatant they are this year. The Rats have been stealing elections for years, but now they don’t even try to hide it.
Did he say the same thing about Virginia tossing absentee ballots on a technicality?
I didn’t think so.
Wow, just amazing. I guess they have to do what they have to do to win. Why not just refuse to seat any Republicans while they are at it?
why isnt this taken to the court system instead of the US Senate?
I am so disgusted by this election.
we will probably never know the truth about where Obamanazi was born.
Interesting precedent. Under perfectly valid state law, Coleman is certified was the winner. The Senate, however, in violation of the state’s law, recounts, applying its own standards, and seats the looser. Well........OK. In the last two elections the Reps lost some seats by very slim margins. It will happen again to both parties. Will the Senate re-open those elections to apply standards that violate state law? Why don’t WE do this?
If Chambliss wins his race in Florida and Reid does this, then the Republicans should (but will not of course) tell Reid that every bit of Senate business will be ground to a halt until Coleman is seated.
Reid should shut up before he makes a bigger fool of himself. If Coleman is certified the winner by 200+ votes, the RAT Senate is not going to proclaim Franken the winner. It might want to, but it doesnt have the nads to put up with the criticism and derision.
It does have the audacity to spend the next couple of years patting itself on the back for not intervening.
Your thoughts?
Yeah, I did not get that either, but from what I gather the Senate will have the authority to NOT seat Coleman.
I’m not sure who does this? My guess would be the full Senate. Dn’t know what is needed to deny the seat 51 votes?
There had been discussion that if Stevens had won in Alaska that the GOP’s member of the Senate would have refused to seat him, therefore he would be forced to resign.
better coin that word (”Obamanazi”), soon to be an official part of the lingo along with “feminazi”
I don’t believe the Republicans would ever take an action like this, to refuse office to the candidate who received the most votes. This is intolerable and smacks of totalitarianism.
Bring it on. Reid will regret it.
