Unions sure organizing bill will pass
The Washington Times ^ | November 20, 2008 | David M. Dickson

The government-affairs director of the AFL-CIO said he is certain that organized labor's top priority -- a law that would make it much easier for unions to organize businesses both large and small -- will pass Congress and be signed by President Barack Obama.

"I have no doubt it will pass and will be signed," William Samuel told reporters and editors of The Washington Times. He was referring to the Employee Free Choice Act, which would give workers the right to join a union as soon as a majority of them signed cards requesting union representation.

In a wide-ranging interview Wednesday, Mr. Samuel also said that the more than $300 million spent by labor unions to educate workers was crucial to the Democrats' success in key battleground states, such as Ohio and Michigan.

Also, despite what this guys says, Coleman and Chambliss still have chances to keep their seats, although Chambliss has the better chance. McConnell says he’s confident he can sustain a filibuster on this if he has to

Also, all U.S. Senators a prima donnas, and don’t all automatically vote their party line all the time, especially if they’re in the majority. If we can build enough opposition to this while keeping all our Senators in line in defense and opposition, it will give some Conservative Democrat Senators cover to oppose this with us, and stop it

A good economy and successful individuals are counter to the actual goals of leftists.

Their goals can be summed up as

the maximum number of people under the control of the fewest number of people.

I worked in a union shop...and was chief steward, until I got so disgusted with the union president and much of the executive board. I resigned as chief steward, and then resigned from the union (it was an agency shop, not closed). Since I officially resigned from the union, they could not deduct dues from my wages. I was harassed and threatened repeatedly. They damaged my cars in the parking lot.

In the end, I started taking the bus to work, and when I became a shop foreman, the union went absolutely ballistic. When the company finally closed the plant and moved it and me to a ROW state, I had the pleasure of waving good bye to the union president as he clock punched-out for the last time.

Unions screwed up Detroit. Why not the rest of the country?

Well, that's why they need to share the wealth, to gather more in fees and try to save their organization. They need to feed the beast. Why not share the 'joy' with the rest of the country?

Not to mention my state, PA. 'Educate'? Anyone who has ever had a union-employed friend confide that they "are conservative, but shhhh!, no one must know", knows how powerful this education is.

How true this is , i belong to the local carpenters union-XXX , i think Im the only rep, in there , building has been slow for a long time already , i asked today how many guys are on the list ( out of work ) Betty told me aah aah , i said all of them , she said ya for the most part , but i was in the office last month trying to get bumped up the list , and i looked into the hall where they are conducting orientation , so i stepped in and there were 20 or so Mexican guys in there with one interpreter filling out union cards and paper work , rummer has it companies get a break on labor cost from the union for Mexican workers ,, I only wish ICE would go in and run the SS cards on the unions membership list ,

working in a carpenters union ,
1, you have no control over what weather you will have to endure , if you dont work out in the rain or snow or sub zero , weather you can and will be replaced
2, they only have to give you one hour notice that you are laid off , and you have to drop what your doing and pack your tools and leave the job site under supervision ,
3, you go on the list , if you dont take a job that they call you on ,, even tho its 2 hour drive one way ,end of the list you go ,,
4, if you go on the job and it only last 2/3 weeks and ends ( completion of the project ) end of the list

Unions are not for the workers , you are only pawn in the trade ,employers scream , force a running pace , they can do just about do any thing they want to you , as there are more pawns to be had ,,
But you do get BA that stops out to the site once in a wile and you get a pencil or two ,

The union leaders are selling out their members to increase membership. Illegal aliens and immigrants have been depressing wages for years. We don’t need 1.2 million legal immigrants a year or 500,000 to 1 million illegal ones annually. Now, with more and more Americans out of work, we are going to witness the spectacle of an amnesty and new guest worker programs. The lunatics/inmates are now running the asylum.

But it was a big deal to the union, meaning they could legally deduct money from your salary as union dues, and use their cover as a protected union as justification.

The year I worked off-shore in the GOM oil patch I had to jion the union and they took 15% of my pay as dues. What's their going rate now?

I don’t see how they can changes the State Laws we have passed. Right to Work means you do not have to join the union for getting a job so if they unionize Walmart, you still don’t have to join the union as an example.

Most Right to Work states are not friendly to unions which is probably why Toyota is now making sure to build their plants in Right to work states.

If Obama and co try to mess with Right to Work laws in states they will have bitten off more then they can chew.

That explains a lot of what I had questions about regarding the unions’ role in the illegal immigrant worker scam.

If I still owned or advised a business of any size- I would recommend that they lay off everyone except family. Sell family very small shares of business and make them owners.
Tell NObama and UNIONS to pound sand.

There was a very interesting book published by Peter Hamilton called "Fallen Dragon"

Corporate jobs literally required you to 'buy into' the company to work there. Made everyone stakeholders.

Companies could start requiring buy in for all workers. It would really make it hard to unionize.
