I need some positive reasons why not to plan for a SHTF scenario.

Posted on 11/16/2008 3:15:11 PM PST by rfmad

I am seriously thinking of taking to steps to go to a survivalist approach planning to survuve total chaos and financial and institutional break down. Some one please help me see why this is not going to happen. Thanks

OMG Squant! The first time that the duct tape comes into the frame, it made me jump and LAUGH...and it had that farting sound.

That video and guy are SO funny.

"...completes the cycle of life." LOL.

Now you know now, though, that I'm going to picture YOU as "Red Green." (Just kidding.)

I'll bet he's an eccentric FReeper. ;-)

Thanks for the belly laugh, Squant. I'm sending it around.

What if that deranged nitwit allows his Marxist core to get the better of him, and he causes a famine or some such while “reforming” agriculture? And will he be too busy stopping sea level rise to give a s^*%?

I truly admire your chosen lifestyle. The sense of security must be very satisfying.

Your fallout makes Portland look pretty safe, but I have it on good authority that Putin wants to hit those Portland hippies first. -_-

"hahaha...how do you get him back? Is he afraid of his own generator?"

No, Taxie. I'M afraid of that thing. It's like the furnace in Home Alone or something--and I'm Kevin.

I get him back with something that he is afraid of...like putting in those "Billy Bob" crooked and rotten fake teeth, or something...when he least suspects it. ;-)

This is the clearest, most succinct, and most plausible summary of the reasons for the concern that I’ve read to date.

Gold would still be worth having.

Somebody near you decides he wants to sell a couple acres, he might take gold.

You break your arm and have to go to the doctor. (if you can even find one).
If you DO find one, believe me, by the time you get to him, he will already have enough chickens to choke a goat. He will be up to his eyeballs in goods.
He will take gold.

But no doubt a dozen eggs can have a very high value!

I always considered the ham and eggs C rations to be the best out of many of the dog food choices—I remember eating some beef whatever and pulling out veins—not pleasant eating experience...

“The BIRTH CERTIFICATE.”

I pray that this is an internet hoax, and that it will never become an issue.

The alternative is for the country to be torn apart. I really believe that would happen.

Those folks living in the country aren't going to be real pleased at your arrival.

As a country person that made me laugh- it is oh so true. I cringe when someone just says "Go to the country!!" The city folk that move here from time to time provide us with entertainment but an invasion of them would really test our patience.

Even better? Our neighbors do the same things, just in case someone in the area missed something.

All this in NY? Wow.

LOL,
I solved the Doctor situation by selling her a few acres - Got a Doc over the back fence. :-)
Plus, her husband is almost as resourceful as I am.

All this in NY? Wow.

Correction - UPSTATE NY. There's cows and miles and miles of forest/grazing land up here. We're no where near NYC.

We’re outside of Buffalo, but our youngest girl and her hubby live on 4 acres with a creek in the next county. ;)
