Minnesota's U.S. Senate recount under scrutiny
Duluth News Tribune ^ | November 13 2008 | Janna Goerdt

As the official recount for Minnesota’s U.S. Senate seat slowly approaches, political wonks from across the country are wondering why so many of the miscounted or misreported ballots that have narrowed Norm Coleman’s lead over Al Franken were from Northeastern Minnesota.

The Coleman campaign has questioned an additional 100 votes awarded to Franken from a Mountain Iron precinct, and bloggers have been blustering about a 246-vote swing to Franken that came out of Two Harbors.

Lake County Auditor Steve McMahon took a little flak from a FOX News reporter over that Wednesday, the same day the Wall Street Journal ran an editorial that took the city to task over the issue.

Can't they ask to have the recount delayed until these "magic" votes are legally verified? I think that it will be too late if they let this guy claim victory. I can't imagine that balotts left in someone's car are legal.

They need to stop it now and make it as difficult as possible to cheat.

Something about a not-so-funny comic turned political thug that strike me as creepy, incongruous.

Kinda like the clown in the movie Magic.

Two Harbors is lucky if it HAS 250 residents. But if it did, be assured every last one of them would vote Dem ... at least once.

Why is Buluth, the Iron Range and the arrowhead region so incredibly Dem? Unions? I live next door to MN, and have been over in those areas a lot for work, and the people seem pretty conservative in general life.

I've been following the recount closely - have many family ties in the state.

The ballots left in the car story turned out to not be quite right. You can read more at the link here

If we are going to lose this one - and it is looking more and more likely, I think we are going to lose this one legitimately. More people favored the mysoginistic drug abusing tax dodging comedian over the faux conservative crooked giving a republican a bad name republican.

My own hope is that after franken gets elected and then booted out on his ass, a decent republican runs and takes the state. Fake conservatives do more damage, as all real conservatives are tainted by their existance.

It's Iron Range. Their collars are as blue as they come. Lots of Eastern European immigrants, second-generations, and New Dealers. You could get lynched up there mentioning that you're a Republican. (Although why anyone would want to is beyond me.)

My wife's family is from there -- Two Harbors to be precise -- and although extremely cordial and well-read people, they are Yellow Dog Democrats to the bone. It's a sad waste of potential.

Just because every single adjustment is in Franken’s favor doesn’t mean there’s cheating.

I mean, just because the odds are 1 million to 1 doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

Earlier this week an election judge called in on Jason Lewis show. He had pointed out that Al Franken’s votes seem to be going up in increments of 100 each time “missing” ballots show up. Blank ballots are shipped in packages of —— 100.

Listened to a schmuck on FoxNews the other night say that when the recount is done, Franken will win by thousands of votes. Would`nt surprise me at all. The fix is in.

McMurphy: Nurse Ratched, Nurse Ratched! The Chief voted! Now will you please turn on the television set?

Nurse Ratched: [she opens the glass window] Mr. McMurphy, the meeting was adjourned and the vote was closed.

McMurphy: But the vote was 10 to 8. The Chief, he's got his hand up! Look!

Nurse Ratched: No, Mr. McMurphy. When the meeting was adjourned, the vote was 9 to 9.

McMurphy: [exasperated] Aw come on, you're not gonna say that now! You're not gonna say that now! You're gonna pull that hen house shit? Now when the vote... the Chief just voted - it was 10 to 9. Now I want that television set turned on *right now*!

The absolute unbelievable fact that ANYONE at all would give even ONE vote to a sick sleazeball like Frankenstein astounds me and scares me. Just think,it’s a close election, that means at least half of the people in MN voted for the swine!

I used to live in Two Harbors. I’m starting to wonder if someone is voting under my name. When I moved, I didn’t know that my name might still be listed as an eligible voter. I wonder how I can find out.

If anybody knows, let me know. I’m signing off for the night, so I won’t get back to you right away.

You might be able to contact the election commissioner and find out if you voted up there this election. Which would be odd since you don’t even live there any more.

Northern Minnesota had the highest concentration of Communists during the 1930's when my parents lived there.

There was a dairy farmer near my Dad's place that had a huge sign painted on his barn: "Wipe God from Heaven and Capitalism from the Earth!"

This is the kind of situation where all the ACORN phoney registrations come into play.

Yes, "Mickey Mouse" is not voting BUT these obviously false registrations act as a red herring to obscure bad registrations that are far more difficult to discern, PARTICULARLY WHEN THE LOCAL PARTY HAS NO INCENTIVE FOR DISCOVERY. Family members at actual addresses can be "invented" this way. They can then "vote" absentee, or the votes can be cast in the following way:

In single-party precincts (no GOP judges around) it is VERY easy to vote unused registrations at the end of the day.

Many of ACORN's registrations are of real people who have no intention whatsoever to vote, but register out of social pressure or because they were bribed to do so. These go into the after-election pool of registrants that THE JUDGES can then vote. This is an OLD Chicago trick, trust me, I've been there.
