A city cop shot and killed a man in a Brooklyn church parking lot Thursday after he threatened to bash her with a folding chair.
"Drop the chair! Drop the chair!" Officer Dawn Ortiz yelled in English and then in Spanish. "Stop!"
But he wouldn't drop the chair or stop, police and witnesses said.
And when he was practically on her, the officer fired once - hitting him in the chest, said NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul Browne.

Don’t bring a chair to a gun fight
(I know, it was more a case of bringing your chair fight to the police holding the gun, but that doesn’t sing)

Once a chair becomes a man-swinger, it has to be put down.

At the risk of drawing the ire of the feminists this was a completely unnecessary and preventable tragedy. It is yet another human sacrifice at the altar of diversity. There was a time when cops were all WWII vets who had parachuted into France or stormed the beaches of the Pacific and could deal with a deranged individual with a chair in short fashion. Believe me there are more than enough "strapping lads" to do the job today too.

There’s something homophobic in that chair........

I was also thinking that
a male cop probably could have taken out a man swinging a chair without using fatal force.

sounds like romanticizing to me. and who’s to say this lady couldn’t physically handle the guy? the shooting looks more like poor judgment than anything else.
To: MassRepublicanFlyersFan
I wonder if a male officer would have needed to shoot him or if this guy is another victim of the push to hire female officers?
