AP: Palinmania may stop Romney from running in 2012
Eh. If theres any truth to it, Id say Ambinder is a lot closer to the real reason than the AP is.
The surprising ascendancy of McCains eventual pick, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and her popularity among some GOP conservatives have left Romney wondering whether he could wage a viable second campaign for the White House, according to friends and advisers
While (Palin) may not be popular with the winning majority that Barack Obama put together, shes enormously popular with the losing minority that John McCain put together and that pretty closely mirrors Republican primary voters, said Rich Bond, former chairman of the Republican National Committee.
Charley Manning, a Massachusetts Republican operative who has worked as a Romney adviser, recently told a local radio interviewer: Id be surprised if Mitt ever ran again for president. I sure dont think it was the best experience of his life.
Taking on the Cuda is a fools errand only if two things occur: (1) the economy recovers, leaving Mitt without an obvious argument for why the base should prefer him to her, and (2) Huckabee doesnt run, thereby ceding social cons to Palin. Number one is obviously more important than number two since a sustained crisis would give the GOP a shot at the White House; absent that, Im not sure why any Republican would want to run in 2012, especially a guy like Mitt who had to eat a ton of campaign debt this year and would probably end up on the hook for a ton more trying to take down The Ones money machine.
For a guy whos supposedly sour on the idea, though, he sure seems to be making the right moves:

RINO Romney Plotting Ping!
WITHIN the acticle is this...
CNN IS PIMPING ROMNEY
Is Romney the man to save GOP in 2012?
I JUST SAW THIS SOMEONE SHOULD POST THIS ARTICLE!
If we’re to revitalize conservatism, we need fresh faces. All of those that ran for President this time around should move aside for new names at leadership positions ... including Thompson, Giuliani, McCain and Romney.
McCain can finish his career in the Senate. I’d have no objection to the other three as Senators or Cabinet officials ... but they’ve had their shot at the White House, and its done.
H
It’s not the color of the skin or the gender of the candidate, it’s the message.................
I just don’t want to ‘have to’ compromise in 2012. Out with these guys who ran this year and bring in new, true conservative blood to the next election.
Of course, I could change my mind just to get Obama out of the White House. But, man, why can’t we have what we want in a nominee without cringing?
Palin is a keeper though. Without McCain she could be unleashed. Whether as VP or Pres candidate, she would have to be unfettered by RINO rhetoric of a running mate.
And in the real world socially conservative women and minorities think that the Republicans are a bunch of rich greedy white guys. Having more rich white guys preach the message that the Republican party is not just for rich white guys may not be the best way to broaden the coalition.
The message should be:
We want EVERYBODY TO BE RICH! THE DEMOCRATZ WANT EVERYBODY TO BE POOR! MAKE YOUR CHOICE ACCORDINGLY!.............
Cool! Palin is already having a positive influence on the GOP!
agreed !
Good!!!
“He could make a good Vice President.”
Why? He would be another George Bush 41.
I agree 100% with the message. I also think that in the real world it will be more convincing if it doesn’t come from yet another rich white guy.
“There is a tradition in the Republican Party — you run first for the nomination and lose, and then you run and get it,” Wayne said, pointing to Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush, former Sen. Bob Dole and McCain.
“Losing once is almost a badge of honor among Republicans.”

Romney’s father, George, ran twice, and never got the nomination...
There was nothing honorable about his lose...
He badmouthed Ronald Reagan and his friends...
Mitt Romney has also badmouthed Ronald Reagan...
Fixed it.
No to Romney!!!! He helped ruin Massachusetts then he cut and ran. Don’t let him ruin the country!!!!!
Michael Steele will go a long way in covering the “rich white (& old) guy” problem......
