Something of historic proportions is happening
Atlas Shrugs | A reader comment over at Dollard's place

Posted on 11/14/2008 6:32:48 AM PST by freedom9

"I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)

Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am."

“So you think that money is the root of all evil?”

“Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can’t exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?

“Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper’s bell of an approaching looter.”

It seems to me that the biggest import that the USA has these days are Democrat voters many of whom can not even read or speak English.

I read this last night, and was just watching a preview for Valkyrie (sp) when I saw this posted here... I see some similarities here... when, in the preview, they say Hitler was dangerous to their country and their way of life and at least some recognized it — though, as we all know, unable to stop their country from plunging into it’s own madness.

I thought it was the LOVE of money that is the root of all evil.

Sadly, McCain and his boy Lindsey are already making a move for Obama to push shamnesty and the guy hasn't even taken office yet... they could not even wait for the swearing in... That will assure no more GOP wins, ever! We need to replace McCain ASAP in the senate -- 2010!

BTW I got to thinking about this sudden move back to amnesty and I remembered who used to be everywhere and has been quiet as a church mouse for the last 8 months or so.. Juan Hernandez! The most despicable person imaginable and he was on McCain's team... and he desperately wants amnesty. The only saving grace of this economic downturn is so many have been and are returning to Mexico.. we HAVE to get all the amnesty senators out who are running in 2010. We need to take back control of our electorate.

To love a thing is to know and love its nature. To love money is to know and love the fact that money is the creation of the best power within you, and your passkey to trade your effort for the effort of the best among men. It’s the person who would sell his soul for a nickel, who is loudest in proclaiming his hatred of money—and he has good reason to hate it. The lovers of money are willing to work for it. They know they are able to deserve it.

We don’t disagree. My only point was that nobody ever called Hitler “slick” or “smooth.” There were a great many adjectives applied to the guy by opponents and followers, but I doubt those two were among them.

Bill Clinton and Tony Blair were smooth talkers, as is Obama. Winston Churchill and Hitler were not. They were powerful and dynamic speakers, but not smooth.

I talked to some friends locally tonight, and word of his meeting with The O, and the subject matter, is spreading like wildfire, even among people who don’t live on the internet. I think he may just have taken his own state too for granted this time.... now to identify someone with name recognition who would be willing to take on a long-term seated senator, ex-President candidate.

Apocalypse is just around the corner! So HUGE it is... good luck.

Luck will have nothing whatsoever to do with what happens to each of us in the coming months and years in which the dark side's favorite son and his far-left minions ignore the US Constitution and rule over us like the serfs we actually are without the protection of that unique document. What will matter is in whom we place our faith and trust before God's righteous judgment falls on this formerly Christian nation and it's rebellious people who have now rejected Him and His holy laws.

50,000,000 + or - totally innocent, fully alive, and fully human unborn Americans have been legally put to death in the US since seven old men wearing black robes gave the green light to Planned Parenthood's lucrative murder for hire commercial enterprise in 1973. Now America has put a man in power who champions an even more radical and barbaric sentence of death for unborn Americans, including those who somehow survive the abortionist's deadly instruments and are born alive. If God allows that unspeakable national crime to go unpunished He will have to apologize to the debauched denizens of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah for dumping fire and brimstone on them and their cities.

George Soros!!!

Bet my last dollar on it. I believe he manipulated all of this ‘global economic crisis’ crap from behind closed doors. I have no doubt in my mind he has fodder enough to blackmail even President Bush into going along with him—otherwise, why the sudden PERFECT TIMING of that mess right near the end of the campaign that oh, so conveniently made Obama (who didn’t do a thing to fix it except vote for the bait and switch 700billion) look like he could give Alan Greenspan a run for his money??!?!

Incorrect......1 Timothy 6:10 - For the love of money is a root of all sorts of injurious things, and by reaching out for this love some have been led astray from the faith and have stabbed themselves all over with many pains.

and love the fact that money is the creation of the best power within you,

Money is definitely NOT the best power within me

We can all be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN these crimes will NOT go unpunished. I do believe we are living in the beginning of His punishment......and the worst is yet to come.

ALL money the US government puts into play is *on loan*, (with interest) from the “federal” reserve” which isn’t federal, and there are no reserves.
The federal reserve is a cartel of 12 international bankers.
For an eye opener on the shenangigans of the fed, watch this video:

The Federal Reserve was created by Federal legislation. All profits go back to the U.S. government. And the economy has been a lot more stable since the Federal Reserve was created. We used to have depressions, not recessions, but depressions, every 20 years prior to the creation of the Federal Reserve. We’ve only had one since, provided the current situation doesn’t turn into one.

And the reason that we are in the crisis that we are in now, is that we forgot the lessons of the last depression and allowed the banks to become overleveraged. We probably did so due to international competition, but the right thing to do was to limit the international competitors access to the U.S. market until they met our conditions, instead of lowering our conditions to meet theirs.

“The rise of the environmental anarchists has been dramatic.”
___________________________________________________________

It has been stated that (paraphrase) we are one generation away from losing our government, constitution, way of life,

This has been accomplished before our very eyes, mostly in the last 20 -40 years ... political correctness (now run amok), teaching evolution as fact not theory, environmentalism, social studies, global warming, relativism, no such thing as truth, (a persons truth is subjective), one world government is the answer, there should be no unwanted children born, mother earth ...Gaia, science is truth, advance of homosexual activities, free love, birth control allowed no need to marry, as did welfare. The black family was destroyed. Unchecked immigration allowed, drugs to be flooded into America... and a thousand other cuts and jabs. The seeds for this dissolution were ever present. We were not vigilant.

REMOVING GOD FROM SCHOOLS AND THE PUBLIC SQUARE!!!

Satan has many minions, he is called ‘the prince of this world’. Why are we surprised by what we have got now? We asked for it step by step. Simply by “the good man doing nothing.”

We are up to our neck in quicksand. This can't be good.
This is what allowed the likes of our to be current government in the name of progress. VOTED probably illegally by the majority of voters(?).

The good news is “ My sheep hear my voice and follow me.”

When Revelation is read ... the believers that belong to God and are obedient to His Word, by grace are to live forever with God in Heaven. The unbelievers made a free will choice to do otherwise.

While there is yet time. Turn to the Lord Jesus Christ and believing He is the Son Of God confess your sins, repent, and surrender you will and life to Him.

He says to you “Come”.
