A Georgia congressman, Paul Broun of Athens, has accused Barack Obama of being a Marxist with secret plans to take over the country, abolish all rights and rule as dictator just as Hitler did.
That’s a U.S. congressman, yes. From Georgia.
Broun might as well have claimed that he had been abducted by aliens and appointed queen of their planet Bogusia. It’s a claim with just as much basis in fact as what he actually said, and it probably wouldn’t have done more damage to what remained of Broun’s credibility.
I don’t doubt for a moment that Broun feels threatened by the prospect of Obama in the White House. But he can’t admit the real reasons for that feeling, probably even to himself, so he resorts to fantasy as a way to express it.
Sane people all over the country are snickering at Broun, as they should be. He is the point at which the lunatic fringe and Republican officeholders intersect.

“It may sound a bit crazy and off base, but the thing is, he’s the one who proposed this national security force. I’m just trying to bring attention to the fact that we may — may not, I hope not — but we may have a problem with that type of philosophy of radical socialism or Marxism.

Huh, Bookman doesn’t read much.
So what? That’s a more likely scenario than the one they have been attributing to President Bush, of refusing to leave office, canceling elections, and imposing a dictatorship on the US. That one admitted to planning to redistribute wealth, President Bush is graciously( he has more class than I could bring myself to have, after what’s been thrown at him) turning over power.
Typical tactic of the Dems and MSM, dismiss as silly, luny and or disparage and not address the merits of the discussion.

Once Obama takes office the snickering at Broun might come to realize how right he is!
I read Broun’s quote, then I read Bookman’s paraphrase of Broun’s statement, and I conclude that you can’t get there from here. Bookman’s reading a lot into Broun’s statement and making conclusions Broun did not make.
Then I wonder why.

No one opposes Obama because e.g. his policies---policies unexamined by the courtier media---are lunatic on their face.
So now the left has their own version of Cynthia McKinney to laugh about. Great.
As a Georgian and an American I am going to write Congressman Broun and tell him I support him.

And then the author goes on to explain why Obama is not a marxist. Oh wait, he doesn’t. In fact, nobody in the MSM explains why Obama isn’t a marxist. They simply attack those making this claim instead. I’d like to see the Obama supports list three reasons why Obama should not be considered a marxist. I have yet to see one.
