"There's a lot that the president can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we'll see the president do that," Podesta said. "I think that he feels like he has a real mandate for change. We need to get off the course that the Bush administration has set."
Executive orders "have the power of law and they can cover just about anything," Tobias said in a telephone interview.
On drilling, the federal Bureau of Land Management is opening about 360,000 acres of public land in Utah to oil and gas drilling. Bush administration officials argue that the drilling will not harm sensitive areas; environmentalists oppose it.
"They want to have oil and gas drilling in some of the most sensitive, fragile lands in Utah," Podesta said. "I think that's a mistake."

Now America has embraced a man who cares not for the dying children from the womb.
I will not be surprised if we are judged harshly because of our callousness toward the innocent.
I think this guy is a Clinton wannabe. Trying to recreate with staff, stroke of the pen, yada yada.
“They haven’t the brain power to understand the danger of not having our own oil production.”
On the contrary, they understand it, VERY WELL...
As Donna Brazille inadvertantly admitted, it’s about CONTROL, not solutions...
POTUS is NOT a plenipotentiary branch of the govt. Congress can reign Exec Orders in when they decide to.
• William J. Clinton Memorandum on Abortions in Military Hospitals January 22, 1993 Memorandum for the Secretary of Defense Subject: Privately Funded Abortions at Military Hospitals Section 1093 of title 10 of the United States Code prohibits the use of Department of Defense ("DOD") funds to perform abortions except where the life of a woman would be endangered if the fetus were carried to term. By memoranda of December 21, 1987, and June 21, 1988, DOD has gone beyond what I am informed are the requirements of the statute and has banned all abortions at U.S. military facilities, even where the procedure is privately funded. This ban is unwarranted. Accordingly, I hereby direct that you reverse the ban immediately and permit abortion services to be provided, if paid for entirely with non-DOD funds and in accordance with other relevant DOD policies and procedures. You are hereby authorized and directed to publish this memorandum in the Federal Register. WILLIAM J. CLINTON [Filed with the Office of the Federal Register, 11:50 a.m., January 27, 1993]

Keeping Faith With the Troops: Why Clinton Should Sign the DOD Bill
by Baker Spring
Executive Memorandum #442
On December 19, 1995 the Senate approved the Department of Defense authorization bill, sending it to President Bill Clinton for his signature. The bill authorizes national security programs for both the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy for fiscal year 1996.
President Clinton, however, has threatened to veto the defense bill (Note: he didn't). The President objects to the bill's provisions banning abortions at military hospitals, discharging military personnel with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and earmarking funds for shipbuilding and other programs. But his biggest problem appears to be the bill's demand that the nation begin building defenses against ballistic missiles.
--later--
On June 25, 1998 by a vote of 44 to 49, the Senate rejected an amendment by Sen. Patty Murray (D.Wash.) to overturn a section of the 1996 Defense Authorization Bill that blocks U.S. military hospitals from performing privately funded abortions for US. service members and their dependents.
And thats just the set-up. Once the set-ups been achieved, hell will seem a step up from life in Amerika.
Welcome to hell's prequel.

Allegiance and Duty Betrayed
Never said it was the main focus. But, it is the first focus and I think it’s pretty important.
The Obama danced around this issue at Saddleback Church. Remember, When he said that when life begins is above my pay grade? He knew it was a loser for him then. Most Americans do not agree with him on this!
There are a lot of Americans that will be blind sided by this issue. There wasn’t any serious Republican candidate that was on the other side of this issue. Why do you think that this is a minor issue? This has been a major plank in the party for as long as I can remember. But now it’s not?
We are exposing him to independents not to the believers.
I agree that the hard core Obamamanians could see 666 engraved on his forehead and say what a beautiful and distinctive birthmark.
We must expose this evil and every evil. You don’t give him a pass on this. I’m not. Remember-Dissent is Patriotic.
So how do you battle evil if not on every immoral issue?
Have you ever heard the left say? “Jesus was a liberal. Because he wanted to give to the poor.”
I’m really curious how do you plan on battling evil and do you have a main focus? We have an issue with independent support. This issue is made for us.
I really want you to check this web site out and tell me that this isn’t an issue or great evil:

In freeper Comrade-in-arms . Please don’t take any of this wrong. We are on the same side.
I say bring it on NOW if he’s going to bring it on at all.
I thought that FDR was inaugurated in March. That’s what was done prior to the 22nd Amendment.
The American people have no idea what they have done.
The STUPID STUPID LAZY GOOD FOR NOTHING American people have no idea what they have done.
Fixed it.
Please don’t flame me, I’m having a hard time with this.
Patriot Act, giving the Treasury Secretary unchecked power, Executive orders, appointing the most liberal judges to act on their feelings rather than law....terrorists view of U.S. implosion.... priceless
Yup. And I had a revealing conversation with a man who claims to be a Christ Follower, but voted for Hussein
Shame on him! The Abortion issue ALONE should’ve been enough for him to vote against this ass-hat.
there’s very few places where it’s stiull cheap...price gouging and all
WallMart was cheaper and so was Cabellas
We limited go’t types have been warning America about the Patriot Act for years. Maybe next time they’ll listen.
“SOON-zuh” Sorry, just my little pet peeve.
