The toughest job faced by every president-elect is making a smooth transition from partisan candidate to national leader. Political campaigns are corrosively partisan by their very nature, but sustaining popular support for long amid Washington's charged partisan environment requires a consensus-seeking approach, coupled with the kind of astute political judgment that has long been lacking from one end of Pennsylvania Avenue to the other. President Bush failed to live up to his promise to be a uniter, not a divider, which in no small measure is responsible for his diminished standing as reflected in national polls.
That should be Lesson No. 1 for President-elect Barack Obama. After a remarkable victory in which he managed to win votes even in those parts of the country where Democrats rarely succeed, Sen. Obama can claim a national mandate to turn the country in a new direction. Yet this is still more reason to seek consensus. Incremental change is hard, and real change -- the kind that Sen. Obama promised -- will be even harder.
Although Democrats tightened their grip on Congress, Mr. Obama will not enjoy the huge legislative majorities that would enable his party to enact a host of new laws without reaching out to the other side.

Obama has been successful in this regard. As far as I can recall, he is the first person in history to successfully unite Nazis and communists.

When it comes to having a Chicago politician in charge of the White House no sane person offers him allegiance, nor trusts him past the refrigerator door.
There's a very good reason we haven't been putting Daley's pukes in national office and now folks are going to find out the hard way, as if the implementation of the Obama Depression wasn't enough.

Take this to the bank: Obama will not keep his promise of uniting us. It is not something that can be forced.

"condemning ''anti-American energy legislation'' that he claimed Democrats and the ''Obama administration'' are preparing"
Artificially raising the price of energy to make America less competitive and to force people towards a lower standard of living IS anti-American.

Obama's failure will not be in the majority, or super majority for that matter (if this comes to pass with to be observed cheating on the 3 Senate seats). It will not be in the failure of his followers who will blindly believe and follow what he touts; their only value now is their 'vote' which he doesn't need.
His failure will be in convincing the rest of 'monied' America, those with resources, to remain with the financial status quo. In the financial collapse quickly approaching, he will ulitmately fail in getting those who prop up the market to keep their resources where they are now. Without those resources in the market, it will certainly collapse. He will then have to resort to collecting those resources on a periodic basis (quarterly, yearly, etc.).
Without a strong market, he is a petty third world dictator with useless edicts, rules and blustering. When this happens, it's a crap shoot which country overtakes us (China, India, etc.)

One can unify nothing when they serve only to divide and alienate.

I won't dignify the Kenyan Clown the title of president until he shows that he is even constitutionally eligible to serve in the office of Prsident of the United States. It would take him a minimum amount of effort; in contrast with the heavy duties of the office, this is the merest trifle.
While the effort is light, the issue is not. He has only recently admitted that he was a dual citizen of Kenya, which legitimately brings into question what are now clearly complex questions of citizenship.
Now that this surprising admission has been made, he must publish all of his birth records, both from the State of Hawaii and from the hospital where he was born. He must also produce documentation showing his citizenship or visa status in Indonesia. If he has ever had an Indonesia passport, its existence, renewals, and any expiration must be documented.
Until such time as he does this, I personally cannot accord him the title of President of the United States.

Like all good commies, "Unifying" is their-speak for "solidarity" among their party.
Do you really thing obama EVER meant to unify the whole nation? He could give a crap less about that...all he needs "unified" is enough people to put him in office and back up his wacky plans.
All those he had wetting themselves with his "golden tones" are living in a "once upon a time" storybook land of sugar plums and lighted fairies.
He was starting to lose it toward the end, when his patience to get the throne was wearing thin...now, he's trying to "act" presidential, but his patience will again wear thin and he will unravel some more before January 20th.
Until then, Bush is still the President.
I think sooner rather than later, the RINO's are going to be sorry they had anything to do with a "bailout" (get that, Johnny Mac?). It would have been better to "crash" under Bush than under obama...and we're gonna crash!

If he is constitutionally eligible to be President of the USA , then ? does the military have to give him allegents ?
Should the military obey commends from someone who is not constitutionally able to serve as the President of the USA ?
