If Obama Loses, Who Gets Blamed?
Slate ^ | 11/2/2008 | John Dickerson

His loss would be disastrous for the media and political establishment.

CLEVELAND—If Barack Obama wins the election, it will be historic. And if he loses, it will be pretty historic, too: It would mark the biggest collective error in the history of the media and political establishment

An Obama loss would mean the majority of pundits, reporters and analysts were wrong. Pollsters would have to find a new line of work, since Obama has been ahead in all 159 polls taken in the last six weeks. The massive crowds that have regularly turned out to see Obama would turn out to have meant nothing. This collective failure of elites would provide such a blast of schadenfreude that Republicans like Rush Limbaugh would be struck speechless (another historic first).

This situation lends a feeling of unreality to the proceedings as we begin to measure the time until Election Day in hours. It is the elephant on the campaign plane. No one is letting on. Journalists aren't supposed to. Plus, we've been wrong so often, and politics can be so unpredictable, it would be dumb to say that Obama is going to win big.

The blame will go to racists. Will be partly right but the racists will be from the Dem party that didn’t vote for Obama because he was black. Puma’s also will be to blame, will be interesting to see if that is mentioned.

Yep. That's the one thing that I'm not going to like about a McCain victory....I'll be harangued as a racist for the next four $%^%#$#$!!! years.

It's just the price I'll need to pay for victory, I guess.

The voting public will get blamed, for exercising common sense. If ever there was an election where common sense is being thrown out the window, it’s this one.

Slate magazine? talking about a loss? who would be at fault? I thought the entire socialist establishment was confident! Strange.....

I've been looking at an AOL electoral map generated by votes from AOL members and those of us who have AOL screennames. Here's something about the AOL demographics from Quantcast: The site caters to a very slightly female biased younger crowd. I know that the 2008 AOL straw poll is only a measure of voters on AOL, but it is very interesting to compare it to the AOL 2004 straw poll. The 2004 poll seems to have been taken during the Republican convention and yet McCain 2008 seems to be scoring better than Bush in 2004. It's also very interesting to compare states. For a while last night, Minnesota seemed to be as good for McCain as Georgia.

Well, this will be interesting to see the Victim in chief and his Kool-Aide drinking followers try to spin this.
The last four years and the entire campaign has been blamed on President Bush. I am not sure even they can pull that off although Pelosi will try.

If they blame their own party members of being racist then the Pumas and conservative Democrats would defect to an independent party or join the big tent.

Most probably if I had to guess, since they are very very afraid of Palin, they will spin this as all her fault.

We must be prepared to Fight, We must make the spineless Republicans or what is left of them stand up and support her. If we stand behind them writing letters to editor,Full page ads showing Media Bias, Organize an ACORN style grass roots effort to protest this effort.

Regardless, We must organize Target isolate and ridicule Pelosi every day. Make Biden a laughing stock, target Barney Frank and Schumer and make them a laughing stock.

A CONSERVATIVE LEANING DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND A CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN PARTY WILL CHANGE THE WHOLE POLITICAL LANDSCAPE. WE MUST HELP THE PUMAS RID THEIR PARTY OF THE MARXIST VERMIN.

In the 30s, Hitler was thought of as a leader who would be reasonable guy.

The “Marxist Vermin” will still exist...

and currently they’ve found their home in the dhimmic’rat party.

Where are they going to go? Why would they get kicked out and lose their votes?

-- It would mark the biggest collective error in the history of the media and political establishment --

It would mark just one more in a long string of failures to manipulate and bamboozle the public in the history of the media and political establishment

-- If there is widespread unrest and Obama throws gasoline on it with a non-concession speech he will ensure no minority gets nominated again for a long time. --

I disagree vigorously. What becomes out of vogue, and it bloody well ought to, is race-baiting. Obama is just a quiet version of race-baiter, compared with Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and Rev. Wright.

Dems just went for a pretty face.

They could have gone for Evan Bayh and gotten a better result. Obama and his Chicago thugs hijacked the nomination from Hillary, and got away with it partly because so many Democrats think that slavery reparations even in a political form are an outstanding bill they are obligated to pay.

We as conservatives need to keep our foot on their necks and that is the media. We cannot let them get away with what they tried to do to steal this election.

We don’t need to retreat at all. We need to start boycotts for every media outlet that was in the tank for Obama lying to the American people and touting these ridiculous polls.

We don’t need to rest after this election. We also need to go after the corrupt Dems in Congress who put us in this financial mess we are in.

ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK. NO SURRENDER!!

Bull Hockey if there are massive riots the liberals will get what they have been screaming about. Bush will call for martial law and that will be that.. He will send the NG or Army into the areas with Rioting and that will end it quick.
