If Obama Loses, Who Gets Blamed?
Slate ^ | 11/2/2008 | John Dickerson

His loss would be disastrous for the media and political establishment.

CLEVELAND—If Barack Obama wins the election, it will be historic. And if he loses, it will be pretty historic, too: It would mark the biggest collective error in the history of the media and political establishment

An Obama loss would mean the majority of pundits, reporters and analysts were wrong. Pollsters would have to find a new line of work, since Obama has been ahead in all 159 polls taken in the last six weeks. The massive crowds that have regularly turned out to see Obama would turn out to have meant nothing. This collective failure of elites would provide such a blast of schadenfreude that Republicans like Rush Limbaugh would be struck speechless (another historic first).

This situation lends a feeling of unreality to the proceedings as we begin to measure the time until Election Day in hours. It is the elephant on the campaign plane. No one is letting on. Journalists aren't supposed to. Plus, we've been wrong so often, and politics can be so unpredictable, it would be dumb to say that Obama is going to win big.

Really? I must have missed the media covering all of these huge crowds in the last 2 months.

I feel like a character in "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" who took some bad LSD.

I predict that if Obama loses there will be weeks of bloody rioting with hundreds of thousands of Americans killed and vast sections of our major cities turned to rubble at which time John McCain for the good of the country will concede his victory and Obama will become president.

Obama will then declare martial law and the real killing will begin under the control of number of groups that have actively supported him.

On a lesser note I haven’t been able to pick the winner of the super bowl every year since it’s inception and view the lottery as money wasted except for my weekly donation to the education of our children.

I do believe however that should massive rioting take place McCain will concede a landslide victory for the good of the country rather then let our cities burn and our families die.

I think the Demorats did a HORRIBLE job of “vetting” their Presidential candidate!!!

If 0bama loses, that’s what I’ll point to. With the irrational mood of the country, a Dem candidate should/could(?) win with 60% of the vote. 0bama has so much baggage, lack of experience, stupid ideas, etc. Dems just went for a pretty face.

FINALLY news about 0bama’s poor character, decision-making, etc. is coming out. I think it’s turning the tide (hopefully not too little too late).

Dems don’t care about true experience, character, judgement - only power - and it’s showing. THAT’S what we have to remind people of.

Blame the Democratic party for not properly “vetting” their lead candidate.

My thoughts exactly. The MSM can talk about their erroneouse predictions now, but after the election it would be racism, voter suppression, greed, anti-Americanism, etc. that will be blamed; not the politically naive views of the MSM idol.

That being said, the big question after tomorrow will be who’s to blame for letting Obama win.

I seriously think the blame is Obama himself for picking Biden instead of Hillary. If he picked Hillary, I don’t think we would have had a chance. Thank God Obama is not very smart. lol.

Please “blame” me also. I have nothing personal to gain with a McCain win. I truly believe 0bama would be horrible for our economy, foreign policy relations and security, and integrity of government.

Proud to tell anyone.

But the victory would be soooooo easy.

After all of the hoopla on the left, the media, the 600-million dollars spent, and even ACORN...he would be so easy to beat if just the (heretofore known as) "silent majority" would just go to the polls, and vote McCain.

Obama is a carnival sideshow - a "freak show", so to speak. Freaky because he is so far-out left on every issue, and actually has very little in common with the average American, that he is a "freak".

The novelty of having a black president has many people starry-eyed; the ones who live their lives through Star Search and are looking for celebrity over leadership.

Obama is about as qualified to be President as I am to fly a 747. And this country will surely crash if he takes the yoke.

Remember last time we had an election the commedia starting calling it for Kerry way early...in hopes that many Conservatives would just stay home. They'll try that again this time too. If you can't vote early, then ignore the media as they will be doing what they have been doing for months, pushing obama.

How do you tell when the media is lying? Easy, the paper is printed, the tv is on, the radio is on.

The $hi+ is going to hit the fan if we elect obama...and we may never recover...especially if the dems keep congress in a supermajority.

A "black president" may be a novelty, but a totally unqualified black man (obama) will be a catastrophe.

Let be be honest, while I will do my part and pull the lever for McCain, BHO will win this. Possibly by a historic proportion.

If the odds are defied and McCain wins, expect the race card to be played and the whining by the black "intellectuals" to be non stop. Yes, it will be because of whitey we will be told. Never mind the man is a socialist and will do permanent damage to the economy, the real reason we will be told is because we don't want "one of them" in the White House

The one thing we Caucasians have to lose is the aura of white guilt. Look at what is has cost us so far - our economy is about to be ruined because a lot here in the northeast suburbs will take a stand out of fear of being labeled a racist. (Worse than McCarthyism IMHO, but that is a topic for another thread) Yes, even if it will cost me friendships (and believe it will here in the northeast) I am prepared to criticize when necessary even if that means being called a racist.

If Obama Loses, Who Gets Blamed?

After that crapload of illegal campaign contributions spent together with all Acorn's illegal activities on his behalf, only Barry O, the stealth candidate, can be blamed.

If there is widespread unrest and Obama throws gasoline on it with a non-concession speech he will ensure no minority gets nominated again for a long time.
