The court heard how dozens of customers fled in panic when three soft drink bottles exploded in the restaurant's toilets on 22 May. Reilly had intended to run out into the packed dining area but could not open the toilet cubicle door. The caustic soda devices detonated in his hands, leaving him badly injured.
Report: Tampa Bay area chemical facilities at risk
The scenario goes something like this: Under the cover of darkness, a terrorist slips into Tampa's Howard F. Curren Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant undetected. He places a bomb under one of the plant's chlorine gas tanks and sets the timer. The tank explodes, sending a deadly plume of toxic gas out over the Tampa Bay area.
Before authorities can figure out what happened, hundreds of thousands are dead. It could happen, at least according to a report released this week by the Center for American Progress, a Washington D.C.-based nonpartisan think tank.
3 dangerous chemical plants in S.J.
Five New Jersey chemical plants are among the nation's 101 most "dangerous" facilities because terrorist strikes or innocent accidents could release poisonous gases that could kill or harm millions of people, according to a report released Wednesday. Three of them are in South Jersey.
Cleveland man sentenced for selling chemical secrets to Korea
A former chemicals company researcher has been sentenced in Cleveland to 19 months in prison for selling trade secrets to a competitor in South Korea.
The Tampa Bay situation as well as many others who have other chemical and oil production facilities near ports are very vulnerable.
We are just about at the time frame when aq seems to be able to regroup for their attacks. Hoping they won't but it seems as though it's inevitable as they hate this country so much.
Sites with chemical tanks remain vulnerable from casual travel observation. Fences that cannot be penetrated by vehicles or easily climbed by terrorists would seem to be a miniscule investment by chemical company ownership - much less expensive than potential loss of life and property without them.
US Military Assigns Army colonel to judge trial of Khalid Sheik Mohammed
Hopefully Khalid will get his just due such as living with dogs and being all prisoners main butt holer.
Not all are happy about the appointment - namely the ACLU. They question the timing so close to Obama’s inaugural. Obama’s has promised to close Guantanamo and use criminal courts to try these bastages.
The US militaryhas assigned an Army colonel to take over the coming war crimes trial of alleged September 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed, a sign that the Pentagon is plunging ahead with plans for military commissions of alleged 9/11 co-conspirators.[...]
The American Civil Liberties Union derided the timing of the assignment: a day after President-elect Barack Obama restated his vow to close Guantánamo prison camps in a post-election interview on CBS’ 60 Minutes.
ACLU executive director Anthony Romero called the timing “highly suspect and disturbing” and a bid “to sabotage President-elect Obama’s plans by ramming through these cases while the new administration is making plans to dismantle the military commission system”.
War court spokesman Joe DellaVedova said there was nothing sinister about the timing or the selection of Henley by Kohlmann to replace him.
Yes, lets ram the cases through before Obama screws it up.

The Conviction of Monzar al Kassar and the Criminal-Terrorist Nexus
By Douglas Farah
The good news yesterday was the conviction on all counts of Monzar al Kassar, the international weapons trafficker and friend of numerous terrorist organizations.
Al Kassar and his accomplice, Luis Moreno Godoy were convicted in New York of conspiracy to murder U.S. nationals; conspiracy to murder U.S. officers and employees; conspiracy to acquire and export anti-aircraft missiles; conspiracy to provide material support and resources to the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC), a designated foreign terrorist organization; and money laundering. The convictions represent the first time anyone has been charged with and convicted of the anti-aircraft missile statute.
Al Kassar, like Viktor Bout and others, are part of the shadowy world of facilitators that work across criminal and terrorist organizations, supplying them with what they need-from weapons to passports to money laundering services....

Combined Forces Kill Insurgents, Save Civilians in Afghanistan
From the American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON - Afghan army commandos and their coalition partners killed four militants while simultaneously protecting nearly 90 civilians in an early morning operation today in western Afghanistan, military officials reported.
The combined forces were conducting a raid on a compound, targeting a Taliban commander in Farah province’s Dowlatabad village when they received fire from several enemy fighting positions. The combined forces quickly returned fire and also established a security perimeter to protect the civilians, who included 30 children, officials said.
The exchange of fire resulted in the deaths of four enemy fighters who local residents confirmed were Taliban militants.
During the search for more militants, commandos discovered a fully operational explosive device in a local mosque. Commandos removed the bomb and destroyed it. The detonation caused minor damage to the mosque’s exterior wall, for which the commandos provided compensation to village elders. The operation also uncovered numerous small arms weapons and bomb-making materials.....
