Last nights well-edited, technically proficient, dreary prime-time Barack Obama infomercial probably could be expanded into a five disc DVD set, complete with bonus interviews featuring more downtrodden Americans, detailed liner notes, transcripts of old law lectures, his personal revisions to the Constitution, and never-before seen footage of Mr. Obama healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the hungry and personally redistributing wealth door-to-door.
Self indulgent is far too mild a phrase to describe Obamas thirty minute excursion into his super-ego as I continue to hear Carly Simons Youre So Vain playing in my head so Ill just say it was somewhere between disturbing and an intestinal blockage.
The United States is a heartless hell hole and moral garbage dump, if you were to subscribe to the Obama portrayal. It is a nation crumbling, losing its very soul, filled with a subjugated and exploited citizenry denied their slices of the American dream. In Obama-speak, despair and disillusionment linger like grim death over a nation desperately in need of rescue from the metastasizing cancers of free markets, rugged individualism and unfettered opportunity. Morph all of that with the oppressive policies of an eight-year long George W. Bush regime and youve got the makings of an irresolute, frightened country in need of real change.
And those were the high points.
The program itself was a technical laxative - complete with soft focusing, inspirational music, amber waves of wafting grain, and slices of heartbreak from struggling Americans. It was sulkily tiresome.
At the risk of a cold-hearted bastard label, let me assert (for the record) that I do not attack those who are genuinely having a hard time getting by. That isn't my point. To deny that there are Americans struggling is to deny reality. Indeed, there have always segments of the population who have struggled at any given time in this nations history. These days, I am among them, believe me.
But the Obama brother-can-you-spare-a-dime approach was more than a bit too much. About ten minutes into the program I started receiving hate mail from my stomach, begging me to give it a break. Twenty minutes in, I was looking for something to settle it down like pop rocks or hydrochloric acid.
Frankly, the only thing missing last night in Obamas Let Me Save You pre-World Series "America Sucks" showcase were images of bread lines and men holding Will Work for Food signs across their chests.
The program was depressing. It was meant to be. And it wont make a damn bit of difference in the outcome of the election.
If only Barack Obama were President during the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe ... He could have stood on top of the crumbling levees himself, with the slashing wind and rains battering him, holding back the mighty floods with one hand and lifting people onto hovering helicopters with the other.
Messiahs do things like that.
“BTW, 18 Million Democrats voted for Hillary Clinton in the Primaries. Are they all racists?”
Oh, oh, pick me, pick me.
The answer to your question is yes. Do a search for the slams Ohio received in giving Ohio to Hillary during the primaries. It was beyond ugly and the wounds continue. Search for “Ohio racist” or “Ohio Archie Bunker” or “Ohio stupid” or “Ohio IQ test”....you get the drift.
I sooooooooooooooooo hope they lose all of Appalachia because of the way they treated us in March - whether you voted in the primary as a Republican or Democrat, it was highly offensive. They sat Ohio at the back of the convention (it was all over the liberal news!); the Republicans sat Ohio in the front of their convention. They know where the butter needs to be on the bread!
I got a pre-recorded phone message from Joe Biden urging me to watch. I deleted Joe’s recorded message after the first two sentences and watched “The Naked Archeologist” instead.
I can safely say that you are the first person I’ve read to insert the words “dolorous hologram of abnegation” into a sentence.
I’ll try that out this weekend while cigar smoking and beer drinking with chums at a Cleveland Browns football tailgate.
ROFL!
LOL! I stopped watching TV when Clinton was elected the first time.
As someone who refused to watch Mr. Hussein last night, and having an upset stomach this morning at work, I'm going to admit that I'm feeling a bit better after reading this article. LOL!
Nice quote by Mark Steyn re Chrissy Matthews —
And tonight Chris Matthews’ doctors announced that his leg tingle has metastasized leaving his entire body like a vibrating cellphone whose ringtone is locked on “I’m In Love, I’m In Love, I’m In Love, I’m In Love, I’m In Love With A Wonderful Guy.”
and help a newbie with a question.
I wrote this last night on another thread but just to contrast with The One’s perspective on the country, I’ll add it here:
Ive been re-reading McCains autobio. When I came to the intense days he spent deciding whether to take the offer of freedom from his captors, not knowing exactly why they were pushing it on him (found out later that it was exactly when his father was taking over the asian fleet) but guessing correctly that they sought a photo op for their own glorification, I was stunned by a thought.
There was Senator McCain, ill with dysentary that was potentially fatal, many broken bones, incapacitated. His closest friend, in their coded messages through the walls, told him it would be no lack of honor to take the offer and urged him to, saying that he might not survive in captivity the way he was. Yet McCain, as much as he wanted and NEEDED freedom, decided that doing so would hurt the morale of the men left behind, who should have gone home first but their fathers were not admirals, and also that it would be a coup for the enemy and hurt the armed forces and thus the USA itself. And when he refused this offer, he was so cruelly tied up and beaten that he was left in pools of his own blood and waste for days.
How many of you think Barack Obama would put the USA first like that?? Put up your hands.
I thought so.
Beautiful! Right on target!
Of course, that goes for his entire campaign. It's a real mystery to me why people want to fancy themselves so miserable. Because that's all it is, imagination - highly manipulated imagination.
Try Alka-Seltzer!
God laughs!
All you need to know about Chris Matthews is in this analysis:
Chris Matthews: Ive always said to this people who are tough on the racial front Just think about it if you are examining your conscience, what do you want black people to do? You want them to grow up well, raise their kids well, pay attention to their kids, raise them well, accept your responsibilities as a parent. Do everything right, this family has done everything youve asked them to do. What more do you want, before youre gonna vote for a black guy? What more do you want? The guys done everything, hes worked his butt off, hes been a good father, a good citizen, hes paid attention to his country, hes devoted his life to his own community back in the South side of Chicago, hes taught people how to be, how to behave, hes done everything right. Give the guy a break, at least think about voting for him.
By the way, an Obama supporting relative is taunting me about the October Surprise, asking me where it is, saying it would have come out weeks ago, had to explain that if you have something, you wait until Thursday or Friday night, you want that to be the last thing in the minds of voters.
Oh how sweet it would be if something breaks tonight or tomorrow night.
bttt
Think about it, then perish the thought!
The fallacy is his recounting of the black family. Many are not like that at all, and kids literally don’t know if their father is not really their uncle. Many know that they have half a dozen half siblings in the neighborhood. Boys shun school and don’t work hard. They screw with petty crime and drugs and don’t go to work. They make sure however to claim the Earned Income credit, the reward for barely working.
A ho hum of the first order. That guy Obama needs to get a life.
I'm sure hoping that we see some good parodies of this barf-o-mercial soon!
