Most will carry Obama press conference; time shifted after NBC balked UPDATED: After some hesitation and a time shift, three major broadcast networks have agreed to carry Barack Obama's latest primetime news conference. The event was announced Friday afternoon as Obama battles to bolster congressional support for an ambitious health-care overhaul while facing dropping approval ratings. But broadcasters are struggling with falling approval ratings of their own; Nielsen's audience measurements show viewership in a summertime slump. The conference will mark the president's fourth primetime press event since he took office six months ago. Such interruptions tend to wreak havoc with...
  • OBAMA INFOMERCIAL CAPTIONING $250k, SOUND $200

I was told that on the infomercial Obama defined middle class making $200K but the closed captioning said $250. Please check any recordings if it is true. Chances are they are changing it on purpose that if they win and they cut it at 100K they say that they told us before election. Shows that they keep changing the message but I think intentionally.
  • Obama's prime-time ad skips over budget realities

WASHINGTON – Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office. Obama's assertion that "I've offered spending cuts above and beyond" the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by "eliminating programs that don't work" masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are — beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn't tell them:...
  • THE OBAMA INFOMERCIAL - QUICK IMPRESSIONS THE MORNING AFTER

Last night’s well-edited, technically proficient, dreary prime-time Barack Obama infomercial probably could be expanded into a five disc DVD set, complete with bonus interviews featuring more downtrodden Americans, detailed liner notes, transcripts of old law lectures, his personal revisions to the Constitution, and “never-before” seen footage of Mr. Obama healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the hungry and personally redistributing wealth door-to-door. “Self indulgent” is far too mild a phrase to describe Obama’s thirty minute excursion into his super-ego – as I continue to hear Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain” playing in my head – so I’ll just say...
  • Media Analysts Split on Effectiveness of Obama Infomercial

Barack Obama's half-hour, multimillion-dollar television infomercial was a slick production but media analysts are split on whether the target audience bought what he was selling. Obama took the unusual step of making his final pitch to be president Wednesday night with a 30-minute ad featuring Americans struggling to stay afloat and explaining how an Obama presidency would help them. The program aired on seven major cable and broadcast networks, cost more than $3 million and preceded the final game of the World Series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays. The infomercial reached 21.7 percent of households, according...

Flush with cash, Democratic candidate to saturate prime-time television tonight with multimillion-dollar ad buy Barack Obama plans to air a 30-minute commercial Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on three major networks, as well as smaller outlets. Coming just six days before Election Day, the purchase is one of the largest ad buys in election history. It will saturate the airwaves, even delaying the continuation of the fifth game of the rain-delayed World Series. The Obama team bought time on CBS, NBC and FOX for about $1 million per network. The infomercial will also run on Univision, BET, MSNBC and TV...
  • Campbell Brown: Obama breaks promise on campaign finance

You may have heard that Wednesday night Barack Obama will be on five different TV networks speaking directly to the American people. He bought 30 minutes of airtime from the different networks, a very expensive purchase. But hey, he can afford it. Barack Obama is loaded, way more loaded than John McCain, way more loaded than any presidential candidate has ever been at this stage of the campaign.
