Sorry, this is my party, too, and I have a right to express my opinion here. I have nothing against your practicing your religion. You have every right to support Palin and hope that she will become President someday. However, MY chosen candidate will be a very different Republican, and the fellow Republicans I most respect and admire will not spew the type of vitriol you have just shown toward me on this thread.
There are many more of us Goldwater types than you seem to think. Yes, we need you, but you need us, too, in case you hadn’t noticed. The lesson of this election is that McCain would be winning today if he hadn’t picked Palin and alienated so many of the moderate voters he needs. It is precisely because you are losing people like me that we are probably going to lose this election. Of course I am still voting Republican this year, but I am furious at McCain for cynically choosing Palin as red meat for fundamentalists, when she is not prepared in any way, shape, or form for this job.
I’m not an atheist, but I certainly would not talk about fellow human beings in the nasty, derisive tones you use. I’m Presbyterian, and the people in the church I have chosen do not spew derision on people of other faiths or people who have not found God. Good people of all denominations, and all religions, should feel welcome in our party and our country. I’ll wager you consider yourself a friend of Israel, but did you notice that Jews are trending more than usual toward the Democratic ticket this year? Did you ever think to ask yourself why?
Are you really an admin moderator, or is that just a clever nick? Because I would hate to think that strong, fiscally conservative, non-religious right Republicans were not welcome here to express their views. Yes, we need you, and I respect your right to back the candidate you want. But please respect MY right to say that I would have picked someone else. Like it or not, my type of Republican is still a big part of the heart and soul of this party.
Here’s something you may have overlooked:
Statement by the founder of Free Republic
Free Republic ^ | Jim Robinson
“...As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. We also oppose the United Nations or any other world government body that may attempt to impose its will or rule over our sovereign nation and sovereign people. We believe in defending our borders, our constitution and our national sovereignty.
Free Republic is private property. It is not a government project, nor is it funded by government or taxpayer money. We are not a publicly owned entity nor are we an IRS tax-free non-profit organization. We pay all applicable taxes on our income. We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. We sell no merchandise, product or service, and we offer no subscriptions or paid memberships. We accept no paid advertising or promotions. We are funded solely by donations (non tax deductible gifts) from our readers and participants...”

Actually they are supporting Obama by about only 70% and may in fact be less than that by election day.
The press destroys Governor Palin, yet they do nothing to show how utterly incompetent Joe Biden is.
Joe Biden voted against the first Gulf War, voted FOR the current “unpopular” Gulf War, pushed for the failed policy of a Nuclear Freeze and wanted to divide Iraq into three pieces, giving Iran a stronghold there if it was implemented.
Add the “jobs” is a three letter word and FDR on TV in 1929 for a little effect, and there you go.
The “moderates” that complain about Palin have to do a little intellectual yoga to move over to Obama and Biden because they don't like Palin. That argument sounds like the crap I've read on the liberal blogs, not FR.
Why then are you spewing derision on the “religious right”? You’re remarks to keep the religious right out of politics are very hypocritical in my opinion. And also, what point of view of Sarah Palin do you disagree with?
By the way, Sarah Palin has not been wearing her religion on her sleave at all. Maybe you’ve been a bit biased in your judgement of her or drinking from the MSM kool-aid. I’m sure she would be much nicer to you than you have been to her.
[cough]BULLSHT[cough]
Yes, completely LAUGHABLE bullsqueeze.
Now, that piece of ignorant political analysis being given its all due respect, would you mind telling us where Palin has used "derisive tones" against non-believers or those of other faiths?
Methinks you're suffering from the same PDS as the left, and for the exact same reason.
See, leftists, usually women, complain that Palin is "shoving her religion down our throats" when she's doing NOTHING OF THE SORT. She's just LIVING, and living her life in a walk with God.
The CONVICTION that folks feel is seeing their own lives reflected, and poorly, in her life.
“The lesson of this election is that McCain would be winning today if he hadnt picked Palin and alienated so many of the moderate voters he needs.”
You have lost all credibility with that statement. Palin gave his campaign a much needed charge.
I suppose you are OK with the religious left?
That is about the most liberal statement you could possibly have made.
To think that you have a RIGHT to do as you please in another man's house.
I can hardly believe you got away with that one!
***Sorry, this is my party, too, and I have a right to express my opinion here.***
Nope. We exist because of the sufferance of Jim Robinson and his moderators.
***The lesson of this election is that McCain would be winning today if he hadnt picked Palin and alienated so many of the moderate voters he needs. It is precisely because you are losing people like me that we are probably going to lose this election.***
Have a nice time in your next political party. The moderates never sided with McCain - that was a crock created by the left in order to try to divide the party.
***Im not an atheist, but I certainly would not talk about fellow human beings in the nasty, derisive tones you use. Im Presbyterian, and the people in the church I have chosen do not spew derision on people of other faiths or people who have not found God.***
You haven’t been to the religious boards, have you?
***Are you really an admin moderator, or is that just a clever nick?***
Trying to make friends in high places?
“and the people in the church I have chosen do not spew derision on people of other faiths or people “
Except if you can bash Sarah Palin unfairly, evidently.
complete BS, Sara has rallied far many more then she's alienated.
Why the hatred of the Christian right? I don't get it.
Oh boy, do you ever sound like someone who left FR in the Great Exodus of (early) 2007. I just don’t know which one....
Let’s see. You call yourself a Goldwater Republican, yet you despise McCain for “using” Palin to attract far right conservatives.
Karl Rove was the biggest user of far right conservatives EVER. Do you despise him?
Yes, conservatives are getting used once again but are banking on having a voice via VP Sarah Palin.
