These over paid baseball players are wimps. They spend their lives playing baseball, living in gyms, probably using drugs and chasing underage girls, but cannot play in the rain? What a bunch of wimps! The boys of summer may be light in the boots.
Their ancestors rode and walked across this nation in all sorts of weather, but not these whining over stuffed shirts. No, it is raining and I am cold, so tell the 60,000 fans to wait or come back later.
Baseball has looted many cities in this nation for new stadiums. Have you ever considered what you do with a slightly used baseball stadium when the team files for bankruptcy and dumps the lease so that they can move?
Baseball is at best boring; at its worst it steals from the taxpayers and cry's about rain. What a bunch of wimps.
So are those who write vanities.
Ever think that it might not be discomfort of the players, but the fact that a soggy baseball doesn’t make for a very interesting game?
Why post this now?
Another reason I prefer the NFL. I’ve never seen an NFL game have a “rain delay”.
Thank you for that brilliant insight.
Well, I guess a cold, hard rain makes the baseball players run indoors. Meanwhile, football players play in blizzards, hurricanes, tornados and even if the world was to end on a October Sunday afternoon due to a giant comet striking Earth, you can be sure that the games would go on as scheduled.
That’s actually a good point: what makes someone who has a random thought run to an internet forum and post it for others to see?
They nixed the Sunday night game for this.
As the great writer Red Smith once said, “The only ones who think baseball is dull are those with dull minds”.
I question the timing of this vanity.
Spoken like someone who never played the game. If you had played on any higher level you wouldn’t be saying those things.
I gave up on all of them.
This thread got Vannitized.
Baseball is at best boring;
But it seems to have captured your interest however boring it maybe........ LOL
re: baseball in the rain
I’ve played quite a few sports in all varieties of rain, from light to medium to heavy windy downpours.
There is no doubt that playing baseball in anything worse than a light rain pretty much wrecks all dimensions of the sport. It’s really not worth playing from anyone’s perspective once the density of rain makes it too difficult to see and handle the rather small ball. You could insist on forcing it through to prove “toughness” but it would simply be a horrible game without value, that neither fans nor players would care anything about.
Look, games are often called on account of rain. And when it comes to the Series, you want both teams at their utmost.
Different games. A pitcher needs to have a consistant motion and landing point in order to do his job. Interfere with that and he risks shoulder or elbow injury which can end a guy’s career or damage his team’s investment. Worse, if he slips and uncorks a 95 mph fastball and clocks the batter then what?
“cry’s about rain”?
I might be careful about throwing grenades there, genius, when you’re exhibiting this level of intellect. And regarding baseball not playing in the rain, you apparently have never played, otherwise you would know that at a certain point, execution of the game is so negatively impacted by the weather that it is better to shut down for a while. For example, when you can no longer grip the baseball, you might have a tendency to hit someone in the head with a pitch!
