Sarah Palin says she doesn't wear the clothes anymore that have been in focus since it was revealed the Republican National Committee spent $150,000 to outfit her and her family with designer items from posh stores.
Addressing the controversy on the campaign trail in Florida Sunday, Palin told a crowd she's "back to wearing my own clothes from my favorite consignment shop in Anchorage, Alaska."
That shop is called "Out of the Closet" and its owner, Ellen Arvold, told Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen Monday that Palin's been wearing similar outfits on the stump to what she buys at the shop.
Palin "started shopping here while she was running for governor, so it's been about three years," Arvold said.
"She shops for herself mostly," Arvold continued, "but she often brings her daughters with her, and they will pick out some things for themselves. She likes jackets. She buys kind of classic, feminine, fitted jackets. She likes leather jackets. Her girls have bought jeans here and also some jackets and knit tops."
Prices in "Out of the Closet" vary widely, Arvold said, "from a knit top for $16 to a handbag for $800, but our prices are generally very reasonable. I would say a normal price for a jacket would be between $40 and $100."
Arvold wouldn't say how much Palin typically spends at the shop "because she's a client, and I value her privacy. But I think she could probably come in and buy our whole store three-times-over for $150,000!"
Asked if the clothes she sells look much different from what we've been seeing Palin wear on the campaign trail, Arvold replied, "I don't really think her style has changed too much. She still wears beautiful suits, tailored jackets that are feminine, but still classic. I've seen her wear, you know, her typical high heels and boots. So, no, I don't think her style has changed too much. I have only seen a few pieces that she's bought here on the campaign trail, but, no, I think she looks great."
The MSM is one this like stink on ****, but Obama being close freinds with kooks, crooks, and racists is a-ok.
I’m sure glad the MSM was all over the clothing story. I guess the 2001 audio tapes from Obama is too “fluffy” for them to touch it.
Geez....
Ellen’s not really a “consigner”. Let’s investigate her private life.
And of course Cindy McCain probably doesn't either, but it certainly isn't her husband that's engaging in Class Warfare.
Since Obama's campaign spent $400K on his little Hawaiian jaunt, he can hardly scream foul. I have yet to hear how much his campaign is spending to outfit him and his family.
Hopefully this burning campaign issue is now settled, and the lamestreams can move onto to the next “burning” issue involving Gov. Palin, while continuing to ignore all the sleaze and corruption surrounding Barry, Aunt Esther, and Joe the Biden.
wow, this is some big news. I am really glad CBS spent the resources on getting to the bottom of this issue. Unbelievable.
If this “scandal” is going to force Sarah Palin to appear frequently in blue jeans, I guess I am all for scandal!
Oof course....no MSM member talks about 0bama’s $400,000 plane flight to Hawaii....
Hold your horses. This issue is not over yet.
I saw a photo of Sarah with a Starbucks. Not making her own java and carrying it in a Thermos is a major violation of elitist expectations!
This article tells me that MSM is even checking out her statements about the consignment store up in Alaska. I guess they were hoping to catch her in a gotchya!
Sheesh! Will this never end. Hey don’t forget to check out the shoe store and validate that. Oh wait! They probably already did that since MSM, NY Times and Washington Post didn’t publish “She lied!” on their front page....Yet
At least Governor Palin has someone to stick up for her. No one can vouch for Barry.
The really sad part is that CBS probably only had a reporter in Alaska check this out because they hoped Sarah was lying.
You can't win with the media if you're a conservative.
She is just pandering for the gay vote by stating she’s shopping at “Out of the Closet”.
And we THOUGHT she was a conservative...!!
Obviously there are still reporters digging around Wasilla on their extended vacations...err I mean assignments in Alaska. I wonder what that is costing.
No average person spends $800 on a handbag. $800 goes a long way in paying for rent, fuel to get to a part-time waitressing job, or a few months of lattes. But Sarah has the nerve to shop at stores that sell $800 handbags!!
(Hey - I could right for the AP! Disclaimer: I only buy stuff at Goodwill on their half-off days.)
julie chen another no talent female (like mrs bill clinton) who got where she is because of who she married.
