SAN DIEGO -- Recently, I was on a Latino-themed radio show defending John McCain. The defendant was accused of abandoning comprehensive immigration reform, turning his back on Latino supporters, and associating with a bad crowd (read: Republicans). I didn't give an inch. I was the only person in the discussion who actually knew McCain -- from my stint 10 years ago as a reporter at a newspaper in Arizona -- and I could attest to the fact that the senator had always gone to bat for Latinos. At one point, another guest scolded me in frustration: "Look, it's not about John McCain. It's about the Republican Party!"

“How many white folks say with pride, “I am a white person”? Not many.”
Modesty is becoming.
I think it will become more necessary in the future to defend ourselves as white people.
You will not win the “race doesn’t matter” argument — race HAS TO MATTER to the left. They use it to create undeserved guilt in white people.
The left is working overtime to destroy “whiteness” which amounts to white culture, capitalism, individual freedom, etc.
These things are not owned by white people but you can’t explain that to a leftist — if they can paint capitalism as “whites only” then, why not? It serves their purposes.
We had better start thinking about defending our children from this irrationality and RACISM.
If the GOP loses this election, the failure of the Presidential candidate to be anti-illegal immigration will be a major reason why.
This was a HOT topic a year ago and people were waiting for someone to emerge who would make this a centerpiece of his campaign. Instead we allowed things to get distracted by “reaching across the aisle” Mormonism, etc.
The situation will only get worse until their are riots in the streets. Maybe then “moderates” et al will wake up and see you can’t compromise or pander. They just push for more and more and more.
“How Can McCain Be Losing Latinos?”
Because the MSM says so.
Freebies and lax border security? Yes, they have both. (They've been getting both for decades now). And as I (correctly) pointed out, they're more likely to keep getting them with the Democrats in power.
I wish someone would make the issue of how Obama treats his own family, he didn’t try to petition his brother who is living in a hut on a dollar a day.
Compare that to McCain Adoptions etc...
Obama has no heart, McCain cares and loves...
Even if I don’t agree with him on immigration, there is no one running that deserves the Latino vote more than McCain.
If he doesn’t get it, I think the wrong candidate was chosen in the primary.
"Fortunately", I vote in California, which (because of immigration-driven demographic change) is permanently beyond GOP reach, and again isn't being contested...so my non-vote is of no consequence (Yes, I will vote down-ticket).
He shouldn’t be losing Latinos. McCain and Kennedy lost a battle to give them all a free pass to American Citizenship.
A call for people to come together based on nothing but skin color? That's really pathetic.
aside from Cubans most Latinos come here from dysfunctional corrupt patronage oriented nations
that they would subsequently be attracted to Dems here is obvious
that and the anti-white nature of their sentiments politically aside from the Cubans who at least in the first few talented and moneyed waves were very White.
so here we are ...we have opened th gates to the very peoples wishing to usurp us
we fought hard about this on FR 3-4 years back....lotsa blood and bannings including me
and now as the right dishonorable Reverend Wright loves to say without fear that fighting John McCain will ever challenge him on it....”the chickens are coming home to roost”
with the help of totally emasculated white folks too...make no mistake of that
I beg to differ. The immigration policy hasn’t hurt the republican party with most voters, it has hurt with illegals. In fact just as many Democrats(over 80 percent of voters nation wide want the borders controlled and are against amnesty) want illegals stopped at the border as do Republicans. This whole article is BS because the latinos they are talking about for the most part can’t vote(legally) and should be stopped at the polls. I will go to my death defending my right not to turn my country over to a bunch of illegal bums. If it costs us a few fraudulent votes, then I guess we had better clean up the voter fraud hadn’t we?
Repeating Dem talking points, eh? It was the Democrats and MSM that painted Republicans as opposed to ‘immigrants’. Which is to be expected; they have staked most of their electoral success for now and into the foreseeable future calling conservatives racists, and watching as the aggrieved minorities flock to the party that supposedly doesn’t hate them.
Correct. Latinos expect to be on the receiving end of that redistribution plan.
To hear some of the apologists twittering otherwise, on this thread and elsewhere: we've actively and aggressively hunted down fourth- and fifth-generation legal Latino immigrants with torches, pitchforks and baying, bloodthirsty hounds; and -- upon capture -- had them all clubbed to death with their very own severed arms and legs! ;)
“We don’t have room for racial grievances...”
Oh yeah, tell that to “La Raza”, NAACP, the Black Caucus, etc.
“Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian, that from his mother. What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative ethnically African Negro - a maternal great-grandparent (Sen. Obama’s great-great grandparent, thus the 6.25% ethnic contribution to the senator’s ethnic composition.)
“That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side. He is 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.
“Put another way, his father could honestly claim African-American ethnic classification. He was the last generation able to do so.”
To be classified as Negro, you have to be 12.5% African. Obama is only 6.25%.

I'm definitely not agreeing with racial grievance organizations like those. But lets not play the racial grievance game for white people either.
No, I have actually seen some pretty awful things about “immmigrants” right here on FR. And I had to sit through a talk by a GOP hopeful (for local office) last year that was nothing but an attack on Hispanic immigrants, including LEGAL ones. A couple of women, who were obviously of Hispanic descent, got up and left the room in tears. Gee, I wonder what party they went to?
I’d be a little more convinced if anybody ever complained about the Chinese immigrants (massive numbers of illegals, having every health problem known to God and man, not to mention organized crime) or any group other than Hispanics. But from where I stand, it looks to me like simple bigotry, and I think unfortunately that’s the message a lot of decent and potentially GOP Hispanics have gotten from it.
Researching his roots reveal that on his father's side, he is descended from Arab slave traders. They operated under an extended grant from Queen Victoria, who gave them the right to continue the slave trade in exchange for helping the British defeat the Madhi Army in southern Sudan and the Upper Nile region. Funny how circular is history; now the British again face the Madhi Army, albeit this time Shiite, not Sunni, as in nineteenth century Sudan.
The Mahdist regime was destroyed in Sudan in 1898. The idea that a British government would issue a "license" to trade slaves in 1898 is utterly ludicrous and false.
The British abolished the slave trade everywhere they were in control in 1807, and slavery itself in 1831. Throughout the 19th century they had an exemplary record of opposing slavers, even invading and conquering several nations who resisted their pressure to stop the slave trade.
