No, I have actually seen some pretty awful things about “immmigrants” right here on FR. And I had to sit through a talk by a GOP hopeful (for local office) last year that was nothing but an attack on Hispanic immigrants, including LEGAL ones. A couple of women, who were obviously of Hispanic descent, got up and left the room in tears. Gee, I wonder what party they went to?
I’d be a little more convinced if anybody ever complained about the Chinese immigrants (massive numbers of illegals, having every health problem known to God and man, not to mention organized crime) or any group other than Hispanics. But from where I stand, it looks to me like simple bigotry, and I think unfortunately that’s the message a lot of decent and potentially GOP Hispanics have gotten from it.
As I understand it, upwards of 78% of illegal immigrants are hispanic.
The vast majority of illegal immigrants are Hispanic; while illegals do come from every country on the globe, any effort to crack down on them will invariably affect Hispanics more than any other ethnic group. We can’t escape from these demographic realities, regardless of what political correctness might demand.
“And I had to sit through a talk by a GOP hopeful (for local office) last year that was nothing but an attack on Hispanic immigrants.”
Care to give more details on this claim?
It seems we would have heard about this if it happened.
“Chinese immigrants (massive numbers of illegals, having every health problem known to God and man, not to mention organized crime)”
You are arguing against stereotypes, bigotry and racism, are you not?
