Andy Griffith for Obama???
several sources | recent (October 2008) | several authors

I knew 'Opie" was a naive little kid, but I thought Andy was the wise one! Say it ain't so, Andy??

From the Yahoo! Newsroom, October 23, 2008
Celebs go to great lengths for Obama

excerpt:
Luckily for Obama, some celebrities are taking extreme measures to show their support for him. It's no surprise to see celebrities lining up for the Democratic ticket, but these stars are going above and beyond the normal call of duty.

First up, we have director Ron Howard resurrecting not one, but two, classic roles that he admits he'd rather leave behind: Opie Taylor from "The Andy Griffith Show," and Richie Cunningham from "Happy Days".

"I've never done this before and I hope to never have to do it again," Howard admits, "but I guess you could say I'm feeling pretty desperate these days."

Howard brings his old TV pals Andy Griffith (Sheriff Andy Taylor) and Henry Winkler (the Fonz) along for the ride.

From Wikipedia:

"In politics, Griffith has favored Democrats and recorded television commercials endorsing North Carolina Gov. Mike Easley[9][10][11] and candidate for Governor Bev Perdue.

In October 2008, Griffith appeared in a video on funnyordie.com with Ron Howard reprising their roles as Andy and Opie Taylor to encourage people to vote and endorsing Democrats Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The video titled "Ron Howard’s Call to Action"[12] also features Henry Winkler.

Warning: to those many loyal fans of this best-of-the-best sitcom classic, this might sicken you a bit. It certainly did me. I love(d) this show! It still airs regularly on TV Land.

I wonder if Hugh Hewitt has had Clint Howard on. I believe Clint is a conservative.

Instead of questioning my own perceptions and opinions of Barack Obama, I question the intelligence of those who support him. So when and Andy Griffith throws his support behind Obama I don’t say to myself, “Gee am I missing something Opie’s dad isn’t?” I actually say, “Gee I always had the perception that Opie’s dad was kinda smart. Boy was I wrong.”

No shocker

He’s a lib ever since he endorsed Jim Hunt in 1984 against Jesse Helms.

From this link...

Clinton's legal defense fund takes in $2.2 million

Thanks to 17,000 contributions _ including $10,000 apiece from director Ron Howard, actor Tom Hanks and television producer Norman Lear _ President Clinton's new legal defense fund took in $2.2 million during its first six months, trustees said Friday.

Guess Howard has yet to grow a brain.

I actually say, “Gee I always had the perception that Opie’s dad was kinda smart. Boy was I wrong.”

He certainly was in his role as Andy Taylor. The show was one of the all-time best on family-values and morality. He must have been one heck of an actor. What a disappointment.

The speech Richie gives to Fonzie for Obama in the skit is very similar to the one Richie gave on behalf of Adlai Stevenson in an early episode of Happy Days. Let’s hope the result is the same.

The irony, of course, is that Obama thinks the people of Mayberry would be bitter and clinging to guns and religion.

I think Hollywood taps a whole in their heads, causing their brains to leak out. Very few avoid the tap!!
