.O. Woman Gets New Gun To Replace One Taken During Katrina By The confiscated gun has yet to be returned, says Cong. Steve Scalise and the Gun Owners of America Wednesday, October 22, 2008 A New Orleans woman whose gun was confiscated by law enforcement officers in the days after Katrina, and who was injured during the incident at her home, got a brand new 38-caliber revolver Wednesday, courtesy of the Gun Owners of America.
61-year-old Patricia Konie says getting a new gun is a great idea because now she's more afraid of police than she was before.
Konie says she was devastated when officers took her gun, but was even more devastated when they tackled her to get the weapon, and in the process broke her collarbone.
Congressman Steve Scalise and Larry Pratt, executive director of the Gun Owners of America, presented the new gun to Konie. Scalise calls the gun confiscation "a national tragedy".
"People all across this nation were shocked when they saw this actually happened to a law-abiding American citizen in their home," Scalise said.
The incident led to a lawsuit filed by the National Rifle Association and the Gun Owners of America for infringing on Konie's 2nd Amendment rights. The suit was recently dropped after all sides agreed that confiscated firearms would be returned to their owners.
Scalise and Pratt say the gun taken from Konie has never been returned.
If Obamugabe gets his hands on the reins of power, be afraid, be very afraid...................
Has she filed suit for the broken collarbone?
Amen to that.
The NOPD is the most corrupt and ridiculous law enforcement organization in the Republic.
For anyone who has the time, enter "New Orleans Gun Grab" in the search bar at www.youtube.com and you will find some very disturbing videos.
The "leadership" of New Orleans should have been arrested and thrown in federal prison for what they did to law abiding gun owners during Hurricane Katrina.
I understand that cattle car producers are already lining up for the contract.!
No problem, there are plenty of "leftovers".....
Second every point you made.
I remember in the good ‘ol days when I thought NOPD corruption was ‘cute’ (taking bribes from intoxicated kids, tourists, etc. to leave them alone)
After the last 15 years of murder and beatings, not so much.
And when was it that McCain raised this issue and the Messiahs years of work to overturn the 2nd amendment. I’m sure he wouldn’t let an issue like that slide by. I’m just getting forgetful.
NO, alas, you’re not forgetful. It’s impossible to remember something that never happened..............
Of course not; I mean, it’s not as if Gun Owners of America has rated McCain as having an “F-” grade or anything like that. I’m sure he’s come out in opposition to it.

I don’t remember 2nd Amendment issues being brought up at any of the debates either. The moderators don’t like to ask questions about issues that concern conservatives. McCain should be hammering on this though.
They never should have dropped the suits.
New Orleans should be bankrupted by such suits.
BTW, I truly believe that Katrina was divine retribution agaisnt and evil licentious city.
Where’s Gen. Ben Butler when ya need him?
Wow; they have Internet over in that galaxy far, far away; who knew? You don’t happen to have Luke Skywalker’s email, do you? ;-)
I was surprised they dropped the suits myself; wonder what else ccould have been determined if the suits had stayed in place? I have an inkling that New Orleans had plenty of other crimes they didn’t want exposed by trial.
Not to be rude, but comments like this show that you gon't "get it." New Orleans can never be bankrupted because they will just loot that much more money from the taxpayers and of course line the pockets of the bureaucrats whose fault this is. Unless criminal prosecution occurs for the scum cops who did this, their scum bosses who gave the orders, and the scum politicians and bureaucrats who originated this little bit of tyranny, there will be no deterrent effect at all.
As an example suppose you liked beating and robbing people, but you were deterred by the thoughr of going to jail. Now suppose that you joined an organization that was exempt from going to jail for these crimes and if there were civil suits someone else would have to pay for your crimes. Would this keep you from your criminal ways? Unlikely. This is the position that the NO police find themselves in - exempt from criminal prosecution, and with someone else footing the bill for any civil actions. Not much of a deterrent I'd say.
“Divine retribution”
HA! Your ignorance and despicable interpretation of Christianity reveal itself on another thread.
That’s why I don’t want sick-hearted nuts like you poisoning children’s minds in school.
Hey killer, how many of the thousand plus people who died were “evil and licentious?”
I know most of them were sick folks who were over seventy years old.
If that’s the kind of G-d you claim to serve, I think you should seriously look in your heart and re-examine you beliefs.
Why did GOA drop the lawsuit??? This is one that NEEDED to go all the way to SCOTUS!
I don’t teach.
BTW, I’m old school, (pre Vatican II, Catholic.
Opus Dei, too.
At the very moment citizens needed their lawfully-owned weapons the most, the GOVERNMENT took them away ‘for your own good and safety.’ What use is the 2nd Amendment when martial law supersedes it?
I don’t know about N.O., but if 0bama is elected, it is pretty good evidence that God is suspending His Divine Providence regarding America.
The joke’s on them. Local rail spur has been allowed to fall into disrepair.
