Colin Powell today revealed himself as a craven and slimy individual in endorsing Barak Obama. He is endorsing him on the real grounds of racial solidarity and not the Horse Manure he spread this morning about fixing infrastructure, Ayers, etc. And the conduct of the war and the UN not voting right is more scatology. He was for it before he was against it. We've heard it before. Powell was against the war and did not have the courage to go to the wall against it.
I understand his pride in the success of a fellow black, but detest a prevailing culture that instead of saying racism is wrong wherever it appears, says it is the fault of white people and allows any non-white group to pack up on racial lines and pursue racial grievances. Obama is a part of these groups, not that he will not deny the depth of the association when expedient.
Barak Obama is a creature of total cynicism. No matter how close or how much you have done for him expect to be thrown under the train when it suits him. Don't believe me, ask Rev. Wright and Rev. Jackson, hell, ask his Grandmother. A soldier should respect loyalty, especially when that loyalty costs. That is the kind of loyalty George Bush has, maybe to a fault, definitely to his political detriment. Powell can be certain his rewards under Obama will last exactly as long as it is good for Barak.
Colin Powell, unlike Obama, was in the highest echelon of the administration at the time of the decision to go to war. His strident opposition would have given pause to the process. If he thought the war and prevailing leadership was wrong he should have resigned and fought it and them for all he is worth. He might have prevailed. Instead he functioned like a lackey and bided his time to stab his long time, "friend" John McCain in the back.
I really don't know what Powell thinks he can acheive by this. He is never going to be a darling of the Obama crew or the racial grievance industry. Oh they will give him some public compliments but they probably look on him as an Uncle Tom trying to get back in with the, "brothers", especially after working for the Bush administration. He can never erase his association with the war or diminish his failure to oppose it to his best ability if he thought it was wrong.
Powell will go down in history as the first black Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff and Secretary of State marking him as a leading expert in bureaucratic survival and infighting, but not as a leader who fought the fight he should have.
Its all about Race!
Negative ads?
Well now, I had understood that McCain did not want to hit Obama on Rev wright because of Powel, well the gloves should really come off.
Gen. Powell has earned the right to his opinion. He’s spent most of his adult life in service to his country. His decision to support a candidate with whom we disagree does not change the fact that Gen. Powell served his country with honor and distinction.
Absolutely right! Without Powell the war would have been a lot harder to sell.
Jim Walter Jr.
With the Military expertize Powell had, I guess Jim Walter prove today he had Powell pegged right.
A cabinet post.
If McCain attack Rev Wright, Powell would have called him a racis, instead he attacks Sarah Palin.
If Obama get elected, the USA will suffer greatly.
Say a President Obama leads our nation to destruction as many fear. At that point can we speak ill of Powell?
Lets all join hands and sing Kumbaya. Take a flying leap!
A man who fought Communists in Vietnam is now supporting and endorsing a Communist. Amazing.
It is clear now that Colin Powell was NEVER honest with the American people or the Bush Administration as to who he really is.
Colin Powell is a Socialist/Marxist, and has just evaporated any admiration or respect I could have mustered for him.
comrade powell will have no respectability left among his peers in washington d.c.
he’s probably still p*ssed at george tenet, the bushes, and the gop.
It makes him look like an idiot - He was going to vote for McCain, but he ran too many negative ads. Yeah we believe that one.
LoL.
I never viewed Powell as a conservative, even closely. I honor his war service, but since retirement, has been nothing but an opportunist. This is nothing but political posturing for 2012 or 2016, allowing his options to be open in both parties.
Another racist for Obama.
Way to go POS Powell.
If blacks are willing to sell our country out to socialism for skin color then the hell with all of them.
Armitage!! You said a dirty word. Don’t drop the soap around that one.
Some weaklings are unable to take the media character assassination that comes with being a Republican or Republican leaning. They are incapable of dealing with the barrage of attacks and they just want to be part of the ‘crowd’ and they cave. Powell has shown his true self in this. We all know he was always a more liberal type, but I also think Obama’s race is a large part of this because there really is no there there for such an endorsement. This is an indictment on Powell’s character and, as I’ve said, America’s blood will be on Powell’s hands if this antichrist gets the presidency because he is a danger not only domestically but it will be fatal internationally to this country. Powell is dead to me as far as I’m concerned and this will not be forgotten if this comes to fruition.
Wow,that’s one.
Why do people think they have something so important that they deserve a thread. Yea Powell endorsed Obama...
Now lets let him have it.
I am getting sick of small minded Freepers. I never question the problems or the direction of America is heading after spending 20 minutes reading the "new" F.R.. So many fools. Small minded, boxed in thinkers.
Enjoy your Marxist future. Both Parties are now serving in the dining room downstairs.
It truly is 1984. There is no place to hide; no place to fight.
