Gen. Powell has earned the right to his opinion. He’s spent most of his adult life in service to his country. His decision to support a candidate with whom we disagree does not change the fact that Gen. Powell served his country with honor and distinction.

Say a President Obama leads our nation to destruction as many fear. At that point can we speak ill of Powell?

Yeah, SO DID BENEDICT ARNOLD! Don’t go there because Powell is supporting a man who will destroy this country and encourages our enemies. Israel will not be there in 4 yrs. We cannot afford 4 yrs. ourselves as Russia and China along with the terrorists will pounce on the antichrist’s election.

"Served" being the operative word. It's obvious he no longer gives a hoot in hades what happens to the country.

Powell has every right to his opinion but that doesn't give him, as the Dems love to say, "a blank check" to demand that his rationales for endorsing go unchallenged.

Powell can say that Palin is unqualified vs. Biden is ready from Day 1 and yet that undercuts Obama himself as immedietly being Prez.

Powell can say that Obama has been a lifelong Christian and that McCain has painted Obama as a Muslim and yet we know Obama became a "Wright Christian" later in life (and very opportunisticly) and that McCain has never said he was a Muslim or even, in any substantsive way, highlighted Obama's relationship.

Powell can claim that, quote, "I would have difficulty with two more Republican appointments to the Surpeme Court" and yet never indicate the dishonest assault made on Roberts and Alito and how the process has been lowered to passing Democrat litmus tests.

Powell can talk about Obama being better to reach out to other countries to "repair" our standing in the world and yet he did not stand up and resign for reasons he later claimed to show why we should not have gone in to Iraq.

Yada, yada.

Powell comes across as Jim Jeffords did in 2000: claiming that long held positions in sync with his party were irreparably damaged by supposed recent events/campaign tactics/temperment etc. For these dishonest reasons that he gives, Powell does indeed come across as someone who has decided that race does cloud his opinion and decision making.

He's also prospered from the positions he has held hasn't he. He can support any one he wants just as we have every right to call this endorsement of Obama by Powell what it is. Color of skin tops content of character.
