Powell, who served as President Bush's secretary of state, is to appear on NBC's "Meet the Press," prompting some to suggest that he might use that platform to make the announcement.

POWELL SOUNDING VERY RHINO SO FAR! OH NO!
OH NO! IT SURE SOUNDS THAT WAY!
SCREW THIS BARFING IDIOT!
POWELL JUST REINFORCED EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, WE ALWAYS SAID WHY HE WAS A LOSER, PHONY REPUBLICAN!
Powell is a bitter man and very left...and loves Obama. What he’s saying is a lot of cr**...
Powell endorses Obama. Generals are, at their core, politicians first, leaders second.
he did donate to mccains campaign 2500 its on fec website
After i saw the comments POWELL made a while back I knew he was going to endorse obama.
Bill Kristol was right. And so were you.
Wow I am sad to say you are right. Looks like he is endorsing Obama.
What a disgrace.
What do you have to say today?
I was wrong. I’ve already said as much. I over estimated the integrity of Colin Powell. There is nothing more to say. I do believe Colin Powell lowered himself more today than he did to help Obama. His comments about judges show he never really was one of us to begin with.
There was never any doubt. Powell’s function in the GOP has always been to inflict as much damage on the party as possible.
Powell showed that in his mind race trumps all.
Oh, sure, he provided other rationalizations, but the idea that someone with his military background could endorse the guy who tried so hard to undermine our troops in the field and to lose the current war, is simply appalling.
Did he actually endorse Obama, or just say he is going to vote for him?
That’sthe info I have, I’d like to see an actual quote of his endorsement if that is what he did
Thanks
Don’t feel too bad. I’ve been involved in politics long enough to know that you can never put too much faith in any one human being. I thought Powell was awesome during the Gulf war, but when he started getting involved in the political side, I thought he started reminding me of a closet Democrat posing as a Republican for political points.
Did he say, “I endorse Obama?” No. But as you say, he said he would be voting for him, and gave detailed reasons why he would do so.
To me, going on national TV to announce “I endorse Obama” versus announcing “I will vote for Obama” is a distinction without a difference. Fox, CNN, and others are specifically using the word “endorses,” and I can’t imagine any difference in effect or in intent because of the specific words he chose.
From CNN: “Obama called Powell earlier Sunday and thanked him for his endorsement, communications director Robert Gibbs said.”

Some say endorse, some don't.
I missed the announcement, and wanted the clarification
Same thing, you are right
