Obama camp requests special prosecutor for fraud investigation

The Obama campaign announced Friday that it is asking Attorney General Michael Mukasey to turn over any investigations of voter fraud or voter suppression to Special Prosecutor Nora Dannehy, the same special prosecutor recently appointed to investigate the U.S. attorney firing scandal.

It’s the latest salvo in an escalating war over allegations of possible voter irregularities during the upcoming presidential election.

“What they’re actually about is the unprecedented effort to essentially sap the American people of confidence in the voting process,” Bob Bauer, the Obama campaign’s general counsel, said Friday on a conference call.

“What they’re actually about is the unprecedented effort to essentially sap the American people of confidence in the voting process,” Bob Bauer, the Obama campaign’s general counsel, said Friday on a conference call.

There, fixed it.

This also sets up a nice case of moral equivalence for the media. “They sued over voter registrations, we are suing over voter intimidation. We’re all the same, see?”

Now that Barry and his acornballs have been caught red-handed attempting to steal the election they’re feeling the heat that all those fraudulent votes won’t be coming in after all. If Berg’s lawsuit wins not only will this clown not be heading to the White House but he could lose his Senate seat as well. Buh bye chuckles.

Yup , give the ACORN investigation to Nora, she will make sure it gets thrown UNDER the bus.

I think Rezko is singing, and I think that Fitzpatrick or whatever his name is these days, has it well in hand. He also is not a KOOL AID drinker and favored the Clintons, so why ruin a good thing?

Nora's too busy sucking up to the Nazobamster, she needs distance.

The Obama campaign cannot control everything, although they try to.Its a riot watching them running around in circles.

Whahahaaaaa! Says Obama, "Rezko sings and its not fair!"

Possible?

Yeah, until they are caught and a$$'s are nailed to the wall.

Then it will be just a truism that was easily overlooked by accident.

Funny, I thought Obama was not all that close with ACORN.

He hasn't been, he has been too busy being a community organizer/attorney/politician.

Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really, Really stupid move on his part.

Not at all. It makes him look like he's taking the high road, and if one were appointed would ensure that nothing about the voter fraud comes out for a long, long time because it will be "under investigation" for years with nobody saying anything except "I can't comment on it because it's under investigation."

In the meantime, the Obama team and the MSM can do to Nora Dannehy what the Clintons and the MSM did to Ken Starr -- make him the villain and destroy his reputation.

And even then, President Obama can come down with a whole bunch of pardons.

If he loses, his exposure is no greater than it is now with the FBI investigating.

“they’re feeling the heat that all those fraudulent votes won’t be coming in after all.”

OK, I’m a little slow, but now I get it.

He knows if he loses these fraudulent voters - then he loses.

So he has to start making the case for voter suppression now, so he can sue directly after the election.

We will be hearing about McCain stealing the election through supression, just like we hear about Bush “stealing” 2000.

Bob Bauer’s Election Protection Mission
26 Aug 2008 08:10 am

Barack Obama’s campaign predicts that as many as — if not more than — 130,000,000 voters will go to the polls this November, by far a record. The man in charge of making sure it all goes smoothly, Bob Bauer, is decidedly calm about the massive endeavor he is coordinating.

At a lunch for election lawyers, corporate and union counsels and a few nerdy reporters this afternoon, Mr. Bauer, Obama’s general counsel, outlined the campaign’s integrated election protection effort, the largest ever in the party’s history.

A team of lawyers works out of an Obama for America pod at the Democratic National Committee. Donna Brazille, the longtime Democratic activist, is coordinating the party’s end of the multi-million dollar program. (The DNC’s efforts predated Obama’s, having been announced in August of 2007.)

Bauer said that state councils have already been established, with volunteers working with state and local officials to preemptively resolve crisis before they’re unveiled. Across the country, counties have reported massive increases in voter registration, mostly Democratic, and many municipalities were overwhelmed by larger-than-expected turnout during the Democratic primaries.

Bauer said that “thousands” of lawyers were participating.

To those in the media who wonder about the effect of thousand of lawyers scrutinizing every polling place, Bauer said: “We’re not looking for a fight,” he said. “We’re looking to prevent a fight.”

Mr. Bauer had invited as his guest Tom Daschle, the former Senate Majority Leader.

McCain needs to fight this going to Nora. I’d send it to a 3-way bipart board of atts from Att Gen office bedore I’d let Nora get assigned to the case solo.

In my view, what the BO cronies are doing is using a powerful tool called “leverage”. There choices may not appear right on the surface of things but at the core of their politics to move forward in this election is to leverage the “financial markets”, leverage the “social media markets” and leverage the “economic markets”. We see the polls move in his favor because of “leverage” and “mass appeal to a charismatic leader” who has little to no real substance in his policies or his goals for America. American people need to wake-up but they are asleep at the wheel of their tapped out savings, tapped out credit cards, threat of foreclosure on their home and looking for a leader who will save them from going paying higher taxes. What they do not realize though, is that at any time a corporation cannot meet it's bills or obligations it will go into Chapter 11 and they will face the possibility of losing their precious job. FreeRepublic needs to keep getting the word out to America and keep the Democrats from taking over Washington!

Obama lawyer warns of ‘reckoning’ for Clinton 527 donors and staff

Obama lawyer Bob Bauer reiterated the charges made in a memo yesterday (after the jump) that the new pro-Clinton 527, the American Leadership Project, is breaking the law and warned that donors and aides to the group could face criminal liability — an apparent effort to stop the group before it starts, and to scare off other, similar efforts.

Bauer argued on a conference call with reporters that the group’s “major purpose” is supporting Clinton and that it’s “a very clear runaway case of lawbreaking” because it hasn’t filed papers with the Federal Election Commission or reported the money it spent producing its ad and posting it to YouTube.

“There’s going to be a reckoning here,” he warned. “It’s going to be rough — it’s going to be rough on the officers, it’s going to be rough on the employees, it’s going to be rough on the donors.”

“Whether it’s at the FEC or in a broader criminal inquiry, those donors will be asked questions,” Bauer said.

It's what the Libs always do. They judge shop to get a judge who will rule their way. I think that's a travesty of our judicial system. Required filing where the case occurs and random pool of judges. That's the only thing that will elevate confidence in our judicial system.

Well, it could be for convenience or because of the "worldwide renown of rural Texas courts for dispensing justice with unparalleled fairness and alacrity, apparently in common discussion even on the mountain peaks of Bolivia!"

I love Judge Kent's filings! :-)

In a more serious vein, of course I agree that this shopping around is ridiculous.

Exactly. It's the same game that was played by Odinga in Kenya. They planned it ahead of time to yell fraud should they lose when they were in fact the ones perpetrating it.
