Police are investigating after U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt, R-Loveland, was hit by a car while jogging Wednesday morning.

Schmidt was running on Loveland-Miamiville Road near her Miami Twp. home at about 5:45 a.m. when she noticed a car coming toward her, said her spokesman, Bruce Pfaff.

As the car approached, she turned and jumped out of the way, but the car ultimately caught her on her right hip, and she was thrown a few feet off the road. The car, Pfaff said, didn't "really swerve at her, but it didn't veer away from her."

Rep. Schmidt Returns From Abroad After Feeling Injuries From Earlier Accident

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt of Ohio is back home because of injuries from last week's hit-skip accident.

Her office says the Republican representative was on her way to a weekend fact-finding visit to Afghanistan when severe pain caused her to pass out while landing at a U.S. Air Force Base in Germany.

A hospital examination then found she had two broken ribs and two fractured vertebrae that had not been detected earlier.

She subsequently flew back to Ohio and was resting at doctor's advice Monday in her suburban Cincinnati home. She had been struck by a car last week while on an early morning jog.

Schmidt is seeking re-election to her House seat against Democrat Victoria Wulsin.

Democrats took offense and made her apologize on the floor of the House.

U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt represents my district. You might remember she took on that dirtbag Murtha a few years back. Our local liberal rag the Cincinnati Enquirer called her office to check on her condition ... she was on her way to Afghanistan.

BEFORE she got to the hospital they called? Get the info from a scanner or from the driver? Maybe from Murtha?

I am a Dixiecrat (Southern Democrat, but not yellow dog) and I usually vote Republican in Federal races, but Democrat in local races. I hope one day soon that there will be a NEW Democrat Party. I deplore the current actions of the (Socialist) Democrat Party AND their inability to lose gracefully. I believe that those who perpetuate socialism are mentally deficient. They do not "love mercy and do justice" and there is probably some brain damage or character deficit that would explain this behavior. The (Socialist) Democrat Party has accepted the "kill your enemy and destroy your problem" mentality. Which, come to think of it, is Marxist. Their ideology is deficient and defective. God help us all.
