PHILADELPHIA (AFP) Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Saturday thanked his Republican rival John McCain for urging supporters to be respectful and stop hurling abuse at Obama at his rallies.
"Now, I want to acknowledge that Senator McCain tried to tone down the rhetoric yesterday in his town hall meeting and I appreciate his reminder that we can disagree while still being respectful of each other," Obama said.

The same is happening here in South Florida. Obama is bombarding the airwaves with a rather dull positive ad and several attack ads on McCain. All of them have gone unanswered and McCain has not launched any ads of his own that I have seen. They also hand out far more bumper stickers.
I have conceded personally that it appears Obama has some national lead popular vote lead in the polls right now, but I really don't think that the polls overall when adjusted closer to reality point to a historic landslide. Would Obama be blitzing through Philly today when PA per the public polls has Obama way ahead?
so why don’t you watch this one?

Not that 0bama has once decried his supporters for any hateful attacks on McCain.
Obama about Palin: A compelling person with a terrific personal story...her nomination next week is one more indicator that the country is moving forward.
“We’re as mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore!”
What McCain is starting to see and feel is the pent up rage of the American middle class for high oil prices, the bailout, and the MSM total distortion of the news for Obama.
He better respond to it or it will just get worse. Saying we don’t have to fear Obama as president is not helping. Saying were are going to reach across the isle to these SOBs is not helping. American is looking for a leader and a fighter and McCain better show some sterner stuff.
Exactly. America is yearning for a LEADER.
Does McCain not remember that it was Marxist who imprisoned him and tortured him for 5 years for their political ends? Now that kind of activity has become respectable in McCains’ mind? High-brow campaigning ain’t it McCain.

Wheres the person who cried kill him? Was he arrested by the secret service/
fact: John said he was a “decent man.” not a good man or great man or patriot. Decent is a word you use for 4-day-old chili in your fridge. Not the good stuff.
fact: John said “you don’t have to be scared of an Obama presidency.” He didn’t say to not be scared of Obama or Obama + congressional Dems in power together. Think about it.
fact: at the same time, McCain released the ACORN ad calling the man Obama “risky.”
fact: Palin scumbag-gate report came out. Knew it was a negative going to dominate the news cycle. MSM sees McCain’s comments as a positive in this news cycle. Otherwise, we would’ve only gotten negative news all weekend.
If FReepers wear their campaign manager hat, they know what John really told us was to take the weekend off.
Why do that if he wants this to be about respecting a difference of opinion?
And for the record (see astroturf roots) there is growing suspicion that these outbursts are being staged by Democrats, at least some of the time. It takes McCain off of his message he is speaking about and lets Obama slur the supporters of John McCain.
Where is Obama reprimanding P. Diddy for his "Obama or DIE" t-shirt?
“It doesnt matter. Its over, Im sorry to say.”
Then gear up, and prepare to do whatever is necesary to take America back from the fascists who stole it.
Saddle up! We’re heading into Indian country.
Who are you calling a bitch?
What makes you think that was members of the base and not Democrat disrupters?
There are trolls on FR, why couldn’t there be some at McCain rallies?
I will show up and vote. That’s all I can do. And if Obama wins, God save America.
