After days of watching in silence, McCain calms the crowd at his Minnesota town meeting.

“I want everyone to be respectful. And let’s make sure we are, because that’s the way politics is done in America.”

Tells one supporter who says he’s scared of an Obama presidency: “I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States.”

After a woman calls Obama “an Arab,” McCain interrupts to say: “No, ma’am. He is a decent family man, citizen

Calm down, everyone. This needs to be verified.

I saw it on Fox. It would be bad enough for me to lie -- but to lie for McCain? He is not such a person I should risk such moral limb for.

Oh my goodness. Either McQueeg:
a)Has idiots advising him.
b)Doesn't listen to any non idiots who may be advising him.

ROTB: “Remember, we’re NOT voting for him - we’re voting AGAINST Obama!”

Exactly. We all should be pretty well educated on Obama right now. I hate to say it, but we MUST try to avert the immediate crisis which is the Obamanation. Take a barf bag if you must, but vote McCain!

Think Clinton was bad? I’d vote Slick Willy in a heartbeat over far left Obama.

The triumvirate of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama will be able to do extreme damage to the USA.

McCain? He’s bad, but he’s just another RINO. We’ve dealt with them for years, and we can fight them again.

Obama? Here’s a laundry list: crippled military, nationalized health care, increased taxes, more regulation, mandatory wealth redistribution, courts stacked with Ruth Bader legal barbarians, massive increases in foreign aid, more power to the UN/less US sovereignty, illegal alien amnesty, global warming, etc.

Even if we later get a conservative into office, it will take decades to reverse the damage.

"McCain’s strongest argument has always been that he is the safe choice, the known quantity who can be trusted to lead the country, unlike that other guy with the weird name and dubious background. He has now utterly and completely undermined that argument."

What you said...:(

Yes—and there is some very disturbing video of people at rallies calling Obama terrorist and worse. NOT HELPING, PEOPLE. And these are NOT plants. There were too many of them, and you can just tell,

The main thing to remember is that MCCAIN WAS GETTING NO MOVEMENT IN THE POLLS BY HAMMERING AYRES.

It might also be that the campaign got a little call from the secret service telling them to stop baiting the crowd “Who is Barack Obama” etc. I mean, they have to protect the guy....

BIGBOB’s got it right.

Everyone I meet who “just doesn’t know” has no clue about the Wright, Rezko, Odinga, ACORN, Ayers....so to have people @ townhalls saying what WE KNOW AS TRUTH, would turn them away.

Shocking, but not everyone reads FR.

Translation: My running mate and campaign have suggested there is something worrisome in my opponent’s past and intentions. Personally, I find this unbelievable and offensive. The truth is, Obama is a decent, mainstream candidate. Hell, if anyone’s scary, I’m the one. If you’re scared of what Obama might do with your taxes, or with your national security, you’re a gullible rube at best and racist at worse. Frankly, you’re embarrassing me in front of my media friends, so I’m gong to lecture all of you like the wiser, grandfatherly, non-scary figure I am.

Honestly, I can’t remember why I’m even running for president with such a decent and accomplished alternative on the Democratic side. It’s just something I do from time time, I guess. In fact, as of today, I am suspending my campaign so I can concentrate on averting the bloodshed my bitter religion-and-gun-clinging supporters are about to unleash through their fear and anger. I especially regret my choice of the very scary Sarah Palin, who will be locked in the head of the Straight Talk Express until the day after election day. I mean the Fluffy Bunny Happy Talk Express

LOL...sad but so true.

I'm not ready to write him off for trying to diffuse extreme rhetoric.

Neither am I. He is walking a thin line in front of an audience versus on an ad and think is diffusing the audience was a smart move. Usually the VP candidate is the attack dog and now McCain has Fred and Rudy also out as attack dogs going around the Country for McCain.

Wish more people on here understood Presidential campaigns and what is smart to say and what you leave to others while speaking live. Cannot believe anyone who knows how bad Obama is would get so mad about this to not want to vote. Makes me wonder at some of the comments that want to throw in the towel if they ever supported McCain/Palin.

Cannot be on the attack all the time while talking live -- that is why you have ads and surrogates.

There are NOT two parties any longer. There is only one world government. They split us up into little categories for fun, lie to us in the media and watch us argue but they still all have the same aim...bigger government.

Agree. The two parties have been one for some time. The "battle" between them is just a football game to keep us cheering and buying 700 billion dollar hotdogs while they toss our liberty back and forth.

What the heck is the matter with these people bringing up this stuff with cameras running.......left McCain very little wiggle room. We do not need the campaign derailed by this. McCain is hitting out with the Acorn ad and others. Let him move forward.

I stand by my initial choice for President, Mitt Romney. We wouldn’t be in this pickle now if Mitt had been our choice for candidate. Now we are stuck with McCain, who was primarily elected by a combination of the MSM (who turned on him, of course, the minute he became our candidate), and by Independents swayed by the MSM. Romney looks real good now. A Romney/Palin ticket would have been a tour de force.

A President has to be President to all the American people - even Arab Americans. Insulting people based on something such as this is wrong.

McCain is smarter than any of us in defusing an obvious propaganda tool of vitriolic audience plants by the opposition.

McCain knows when he is being used by communist propagandists. He has plenty of experience with torture and propaganda.

Those posting on this site who want to turn on McCain and stay home on election day, please do so..... BUT stop wasting bandwidth spewing hatred toward our ticket. This election is not over and some of us are still acting like responsible adults and working hard to get the McCain-Palin ticket elected! I was dragged into supporting McCain as were many here but he is all we have standing between us and full-tilt communism.

Stop throwing temper tantrums and GROW UP! Welcome to the imperfect world, CHILDREN, where you don't always get what you want!
