I'm not ready to write him off for trying to diffuse extreme rhetoric.

Neither am I. He is walking a thin line in front of an audience versus on an ad and think is diffusing the audience was a smart move. Usually the VP candidate is the attack dog and now McCain has Fred and Rudy also out as attack dogs going around the Country for McCain.

Wish more people on here understood Presidential campaigns and what is smart to say and what you leave to others while speaking live. Cannot believe anyone who knows how bad Obama is would get so mad about this to not want to vote. Makes me wonder at some of the comments that want to throw in the towel if they ever supported McCain/Palin.

Cannot be on the attack all the time while talking live -- that is why you have ads and surrogates.

What the heck is the matter with these people bringing up this stuff with cameras running.......left McCain very little wiggle room. We do not need the campaign derailed by this. McCain is hitting out with the Acorn ad and others. Let him move forward.

I stand by my initial choice for President, Mitt Romney. We wouldn’t be in this pickle now if Mitt had been our choice for candidate. Now we are stuck with McCain, who was primarily elected by a combination of the MSM (who turned on him, of course, the minute he became our candidate), and by Independents swayed by the MSM. Romney looks real good now. A Romney/Palin ticket would have been a tour de force.

I like John McCain. He is an American hero.

but he just threw me under the bus. What about those of us who fear Obama ? not because we think he is a terrorist. not because we are racist. John McCain just lumped us all together and threw us away.

we fear him because we are at war with an enemy who wants to destroy us. We remember 9/11/01. We dont believe Obama has what it takes to keep us safe.

"Cannot be on the attack all the time while talking live -- that is why you have ads and surrogates. "

When the head of the ticket's OWN words are the precise opposite of whet the ads and the surrogates are saying, you find that to be useful and constructive? The key to victory?

The very best you can hope for is that the voters will be confused.

McCain just, personally, publicly, gave a much stronger endorsement to 0bama than Bill and Hillary Clinton have.

Yeah, that is goig to help him win.

Thank you. You make good sense — I’m not writing off this election either — no way, no how, Nobama!
