After days of watching in silence, McCain calms the crowd at his Minnesota town meeting.
I want everyone to be respectful. And lets make sure we are, because thats the way politics is done in America.
Tells one supporter who says hes scared of an Obama presidency: I have to tell you, he is a decent person, a person that you do not have to be scared [of] as president of the United States.
After a woman calls Obama an Arab, McCain interrupts to say: No, maam. He is a decent family man, citizen

Now blaming McCain/Palin for the actions of one unknown person (could have even been an O plant, or not) among thousands, is in itself ludicrous. But such language, even if he simply meant kill him in the race, directed towards a presidential candidate, is uh, well, WRONG!
Unless we're suggesting that we should descend into total anarchy, and succumb to the practices of third world politics.
It's one thing to be "fired up" and fighting for your candidate, but tensions are high right now due to external factors, and tempers are short.
I'm not ready to write him off for trying to diffuse extreme rhetoric.
As I told my sister yesterday - a man who votes to allow a baby that survives an abortion to be tossed into a closet and die is EVIL.
No, Juan, Obama is NOT a decent man. He is evil.
It is too bad that McCain feels he can’t be respectful AND attack.
Scared of Obama? “Friends, let me tell you, I understand your concern of an Obama presidency. I am concerned that his policies will lead us in the wrong direction. But, in these uncertain times we must not be afraid. We must fight to stand up for the ideals held by our fore fathers, to rise up against corruption and politicians that don’t seem to listen anymore, that think they always know best. And I will fight, but I am not afraid. I will fight for the unborn. I will fight for our constitutional rights. I will fight to bring a market solution to the economic situation that we are in.”
[Insert Winston Churchill quote here]
“My friends, I have known fear. This is not it. This is about standing up and fighting for what we believe in. And understand that while this great country of ours welcomes a diversity of ideas - some are right and some are wrong. When I am President I will strongly, and respectively, work with all those who are your representatives in congress and trying to do what is best for our great nation.”
That’s what I would have said - rather than “you don’t have to be afraid of him, he’s a decent enough guy - he’d be okay”. (Although I wonder if he gave this speech BEFORE stocks rallied today?)
“McCain was tougher on Romney in the primary than he is on Obama.”
I know...... Revolting isn’t it....? You do not know how much I wish Romney were running now......
So now she is supposed to be the bait he throws to his precious media???????????????????????????
So now she is on her own?????????????????????
He will let her take all the heat, BECAUSE HE CANNOT HANDLE DISAPPOINTING HIS FRIENDS IN THE MEDIA AND IN THE DNC.
McCain should keep a cool head, but he still is not coming across with appropriate replies, that will rally the troops and boost morale in the camp. There are doubtless Ozero trolls at these rallies, but McCain needent pander to the extent that he himself is lying about 0bama and that doesnt make any of us here happy.
whatever happened to “no Comment” ?
yes it is
I feel like he is throwing Sarah and the rest of us under the bus.
I am absolutely demoralized. I just lost all faith that we will win this election. I have no more faith in our side.
I second the notion./Just Asking - seoul62.........
And then later, again, someone dangled a great big piece of low-hanging fruit in front of McCain: “I’m scared to bring up my child in a world where Barack Obama is president.”
McCain replies, “Well, I don’t want him to be president, either. I wouldn’t be running if I did. But,” and he pauses for emphasis, “you don’t have to be scared to have him be President of the United States.” A round of boos.
And he snaps back: “Well, obviously I think I’d be better. “
He doesn’t understand who are what he is up against. Palin does. Let’s support McCain not for the candidate but for America. God Save Us!
“Is it too late to put Sarah at the top of the ticket? Please!!”
All I can say is that in my county, we count the write in votes for president.
I’M SORRY BUT I HAD LAUGH....oh boy...FOLKS settle down...goodness! Let’s look on the bright side, Palin will be president after 4yrs. DON’T BLOW IT!! DAMN IT...STAY THE COURSE! I know the old fart just about did us in, BUT sarah WILL BE PRESIDENT IN 4...GET IT 4YRS!!! Obambi 8yrs+HITLERY 8 more!! GOD ALMIGHTY HELP US!!
I couldn't have said it better!!!!!
Translation:
My running mate and campaign have suggested there is something worrisome in my opponent’s past and intentions. Personally, I find this unbelievable and offensive. The truth is, Obama is a decent, mainstream candidate. Hell, if anyone’s scary, I’m the one. If you’re scared of what Obama might do with your taxes, or with your national security, you’re a gullible rube at best and racist at worse. Frankly, you’re embarrassing me in front of my media friends, so I’m gong to lecture all of you like the wiser, grandfatherly, non-scary figure I am.
Honestly, I can’t remember why I’m even running for president with such a decent and accomplished alternative on the Democratic side. It’s just something I do from time time, I guess. In fact, as of today, I am suspending my campaign so I can concentrate on averting the bloodshed my bitter religion-and-gun-clinging supporters are about to unleash through their fear and anger.
I especially regret my choice of the very scary Sarah Palin, who will be locked in the head of the Straight Talk Express until the day after election day. I mean the Fluffy Bunny Happy Talk Express.
The media selected McCain for us. They knew what they were doing. He's sill lightyears better than Obama, but he need to at least try a little if he's going to have any chance.
The only thing McCain’s got going for him is Sarah Palin.
Should McCain win the election, I hope Sarah Palin is by his side 18 hours a day.
When McCain starts talking about amnesty for illegals, or the global warming hoax, Sarah can give him a wifely look and say, “Now John, we talked about these topics in private. We agreed you would never pursue these issues as president, didn’t we, John?”
McCain to Palin: “Yes, dear.”
This is why I’m glad Sarah’s on the ticket.
So true.
If you think prosecuting people for dissent would help the process... Read me again. I did NOT say DISSENT, I said plain old criminality. William Jefferson (D Louisiana), Bwanny Frwank (D. Queerdom) Franklin Raines, Nancy Pelosi, Schmucki Schumer, etc. etc, etc., Why didn’t he clean out the dregs of elected society when he had the chance? Newbie.
