Expect cold and snowy winter in East: forecaster Wed Oct 8, 2008 10:35am EDT
HOUSTON (Reuters) - The winter of 2008-09 will be the coldest and snowiest in years in the eastern United States, threatening homeowners with back-breaking heating bills, private forecaster AccuWeather predicted on Wednesday.
"Given this economic environment, the winter will push some homeowners to the brink," AccuWeather long-range forecaster Joe Bastardi said, noting the credit crisis and high fuel prices.

I’ve got several years’ worth of firewood cut and stacked.
but that's only if McCaine wins. If Obama wins, all comrades will happily pay higher prices to please the dear leader...
plow time!
I can always start burning the untreated, teak outdoor furniture if need be..
We’re going to turn my moms (God rest her soul) old bedroom into a tv room and hunker down with the door closed. It’s a smaller space to heat. We have a pretty big house. Now, if I can talk Mr. sneakers in to moving the computer back there too.....
I better hurry up and get another ton of wood pellets.
who’s gonna have money to pay you in an obama administration??? hopefully all those leftwing earthwatching falls churchers on your street can afford to have their driveways plowed ; )
Any other forecasts out for TX yet? I’ve seen the Farmers’ Almanac forecast, which has heavier-than-usual snow from the Texas Hill country up through DFW and on into the Ozarks.
Got seven cords of wood, and a new wood stove to replace the 70’s vintage Vigilant. I say bring it on. Oil prices are cratering anyway, so it ain’t going to be the calamity that was predicted.
If you vote for Obama he’ll make sure it doesn’t snow as much.
I’ve heard that pellets are in short supply. Is that true? Out of curiosity, what do you pay for a ton?
Homeowners should have been insulating their attics and weatherstripping their houses over the summer. Heating costs are going to be high this winter, no matter what the weather.
Frankly, I look forward to a nice, cold winter for a change. White Christmas and all that. If the bills get too high, I’ll knock the thermostat down to 65, throw on a sweater, and snuggle with the wife!
I got out my down parka last night. It still fits. Haven’t worn it in several years.
Fairbanks, Alaska: Current Conditions - 21 degrees F/Feels Like 15 and Light Snow.
I bought a used 97 Jeep Cherokee last year and didn’t get to use the 4wd hardly at all (Indiana). Bring it on, LOL.
Now that gas is under 3 bucks, I can even afford to drive it more instead of my little Saturn
:-)
I just noticed this is from Joe Bastardi of Accuweather - -
isn’t the guy who makes exaggerated forecasts to get publicity?
I got a ton about two weeks ago and I paid about $230.
