When the election rolls around in November, a large, traditionally Democratic constituency will be missing. Many would expect this constituency to come out in droves to support Barack Obama, but this group of men will not cast their ballot for the African-American presumptive Democratic presidential candidate. These men will be noticeably absent from the polls, not because of apathy or anger or any of the other traditional voting deterrents; these men will remain away from the voting booths because they are legally prohibited due to felon disenfranchisement laws. Felon disenfranchisement laws have resulted in the loss of the right to vote in 13 percent of the United States African-American adult male population and, in some states, particularly in the South, 40 percent of African-American men are likely to be disenfranchised permanently.

Well boo hoo hoo. If these idiot felons stopped following the stupid hobbled black myth that imbues the black community and did something with their lives other than shoot and kill everybody else and make it a living hell for those of us who want to succeed, they would be able to vote for their empty talking hero.

Sounds like the majority of the Obama base.

I’m willing to bet many of them will vote anyway.

If these idiot felons stopped following the stupid hobbled black myth that imbues the black community ... they would be able to vote for their empty talking hero Truly. But then, though able, would they still want to?

Felon disenfranchisement Almost as bad as the "undocumented workers" bullchit. My suggestion to these maggots would be, if you want to vote, don't commit murders, rapes, burglaries, robberies etc. The choice is up to you.
How 'bout now we discuss Second Amendment Rights "disenfranchisement." If this is important enough to restore their voting rights, we should also restore their Second Amendment rights! Shouldn't we?

Lousy personal judgment... check.
Doesn’t pay taxes... check.
Preys on productive, law-abiding Americans... check.
Votes for socialists... check.
Is there any conceivable way that adding even more of these people to the voter rolls would be a net positive for society?
Sorry but I’m just not seeing it. We need to raise the bar for voting, not lower it.

Exactly. These felons probably never voted before they committed their crimes. Now, all of a sudden, it’s all important??

...laws have resulted in the loss of the right to vote in 13 percent of the United States African-American adult male population and, in some states, particularly in the South, 40 percent of African-American men are likely to be disenfranchised permanently. The article is stating in effect that 13% of African American males are felons generally, and in some places 40%.
The article misses its own point:
If true, the problem isn't voting, it is a serious indictment of the community referenced and its moral disintegration. It should also be advocating racial profiling.
If false or exaggerated, it is a racist slander

I think it’s too bad there aren’t any tapes of the Jesse Jackson impersonation Obama did when he was at Harvard. That would sure raise some eyebrows.
To: TypeZoNegative
There are also millions of black voters who won’t vote for Obama because they are Christian and do not support him on the issue of gay marriage.

My dad made some great mistakes and served a few years of prison time.
Every election cycle his greatest grief was that he could not vote.
He knew and understood why, because of his crime he lost this precious privilege.
I really think the prison time was not as bad for him as not being able to vote.

They're felons, and that's the law, and IMO, it's a good one.

You can take a tour of any Maryland state prison and you’ll notice something pertinent to those statistics, right off the bat.
