He's fine with Sapphire - with Ace, there's some friction - question of who is the alpha male. :)

THE SOLDIER’S CODE

The Soldier’s Code

1) I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

2) I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender my men while they still have the means to resist.

3) If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

4) If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me, and will back them up in every way.

5) When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am bound to give only name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies, or harmful to their cause.

6) I will never forget that I am an American fighting man, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, August, 1955.

Thanks for your reminders that our troops stand between us
and the bad stuff. Thank God for them and God rest the souls
of those that didn’t come home alive.

I was having “important” dinner guests...

I bought a $60 standing rib roast.

I put it on the counter to come up to room temp before putting it in the oven.

I had my back to it while I was working on another part of this impressive meal.

I heard some of the most slobbering licking and turned in horror to see Solitare standing on her hind legs licking for all she was worth.

After I yelled and my heart started beating again.. I wiped it off. Re-seasoned it and cooked it anyway.

She only licked the outside, I served from the inside.

Amen, LUV! It's a message that bears repeating again and again, IMHO. Our valiant troops are all that stand between us and global chaos, now more than at any time in our lives. The missing and fallen are heroes by dint of whose sacrifice we live in freedom.

You know where Solly has been....LOL! Washing and drying, then cooking should have made it as good as new. No problem. And you learned how far Solly can reach.

I had cats and dogs from the time I was born until the time I was married. One dog from kindergarten through first year of college -- her name was Prince. No pets in my first two apartments. We have a house now, but no dog. The previous tenants gave us all the reasons we needed to NOT have a dog in the house. (And my son is a teensy-weensy put off by dogs, especially when he was little.)

At my mom's house, still two cats there.

Very cute “family” you have there. How big did the puggle get? Or has she gotten?

Tas -

I'm guessing that the oven temperature killed any germs that were on it. LOL. Now here's a food/pet story for you:

My mom baked over 200 mini puff pastries for a luncheon. She was going to stuff them with chicken and tuna salad.

She was in the back of the house while the pastries were cooling on the dining room table. She's getting ready for her lunch when she hears the doberman "speak". She ignores it and she hears the doberman "speak" again. Mom goes down the hall and peeks into the dining room. The cat is sitting in the middle of the dining room table - and all of the mini pastries - the doberman "speaks" and the cat hits her a pastry. Dog eats pastry and speaks again. Cat hits her another one.

Mom wasn't about to bake 200 more pastries so she just blew them off and packed them in a box to take to the luncheon. Shhhhhh - nobody knows about this! :)

The puggle is full grown in the picture with the 2 dogs/1 cat on the chair. She is about 30 lbs. and the vet says she's about 3-5 lbs heavy. Nice size dog but stubborn as all get out. She's really smart but stubborn.

The moose is about 110 lbs now. She can walk by the dining table and her nose is just at the right height to steal food. I think she knows that would not be a good thing to do though. :)
